Even though this is a comedy version of Robin Hood, this is still one of the most seriously truest scenes in any Robin Hood movie! Which means this Robin Hood is truly more accurate, especially knowing how to speak the English tongue!
  • English version = "unlike some other robin hoods, i can speak with an english accent" Kevin Costner had an American accent German Version = "unlike some other robin hoods, i do not cost the producers 5 million" German word for cost is "kosten" which sounds like Costner French and Italian Version = "unlike some other robin hoods, i do not dance with the wolves" Kevin Costner was in the movie Dances with Wolves Canadian French Version = "unlike some other robin hoods, i wear tights" Kevin Costner didnt wear tights Hungarian Version = "unlike some other robin hoods, i have a nice ass" Kevin Costner used a body double who had a flat ass for a nude scene
  • I love how, while not shown here, THIS is what started the fight, not the threats or the possibility of rebellion, but the damn accent. Why is Mel Brooks a comedy God?

I like how the background characters react like they understand the reference.

This is soooo good. When I saw this movie for the first time, I laughed really hard at this. The best line in the movie! And even though it was about Kevin Costner, it is still accurate to this day!

The funny thing is that the king in Men in Tights sounds like Robin Hood in Prince of Thieves.

Ironically, Cary Elwes is the only authentically English actor to ever play Robin Hood in a major Robin Hood movie (Errol Flynn was Australian). He so could have been Robin Hood in a straight movie. Just watch him the The Princess Bride.
  • Still holds up! Kevin Costner - American! Russell Crowe - New Zealander! Jonas Armstrong - Irish! And now Taron Egerton - Welsh!

I love that line. Russell Crowe should have watched this version before making his film, where he also speaks with an English accent. Unfortunately he used several English accents.

Imagine if Mel Brooks does a James Bond Parody Unlike some other five James Bonds I'm speak with a Scottish accent

Him and Sir Patrick Stewart are the ones that speak with a real English accent (Star Trek episode 'Q-Pid')

The greatest irony is that Elwes was first choice for Prince of Thieves but he turned down the role for the plot being too contrived.
  • R.I.P. Richard Lewis. He was a riot in this movie. He was a comedic genius.
