  • I've been to Britain 6 times and every time I make sure that York is on my itinerary and when people ask me where they should go outside of London, my first answer is always York. No one has ever come back and told me they were disappointed in going there.
  • English mustard catches many Americans/Canadians out. It rips out your sinuses, and leaves smoking holes. I cook with it, but still can't eat it on meat.

The bells at the beginning were just the sounds of my childhood ( this is mild mustard )
  • As a resident of York (a Yorkie) it's Not Monks bar but Monk bar leading to Monkgate
  • We used to live in York and it's an amazing city, it has everything that you could ask for. Glad you enjoyed your time there!
  • My wife and I are coming to the UK this summer. We already wanted to visit York …. your video put it on our “must see” list!

That horseradish reaction has had me in tears!

“Gate” shows the Norse influence in York, it means street. You’ll see it as well as other suffixes like “Thorpe” (Village) in lots of places in England that were once a part of the Danelaw.
  • so many bad stereotypes about american tourists, but you guys seem so lovely and respectful and im glad you enjoyed york. its great

I visited this lovely city last Christmas and it was fantastic. I loved seeing all the shops as well as the decorations and lights that were all over the city. I will admit, not only did my visit make me feel like I had stepped into the world of Harry Potter but also made me feel I had entered A Christmas Carol. All it needed was a group of Victorian Christmas Carolers and it would have been perfect lol. If you ever plan on visiting York again, check it out in December as it's a whole new experience.

Underrated by who Exactly. I've never met anyone who didn't Like York. Or find something not to be impressed with.
  • Great vid, but just one thing. Pork pies are pretty unique in Yorkshire, you can get them anywhere in Britain but they are completely different elsewhere in the country including the cheap supermarket versions (even in Yorkshire) AND they don't contain veg and gravy, just pork, seasoning, hot water pastry and jelly. Popular hot with steeped mushy peas and mint sauce in a bowl if you want to go traditional, but that's more in West Yorks i.e. Leeds/Bradford. Sounds gruesome I know, but don't knock it until you try it, it's seriously delicious.
  • York is widely loved by most who visit it, so I'm not sure who is unappreciating it TBH
  • Lovely video. You guys are relaxed and not rushing at all. I may visit York in late September.
  • I really enjoyed your video! I just found your channel, but had to subscribe and I will be watching more of your past videos as I am planning a trip to England in 2024. I like how you are informative, fun and you both do a great job of talking on the video - a great mix of sights and your faces! Thanks for sharing!
  • You missed the jorvik centre, york museum and the national rail museum.

The Minster took some 250 years to build!
