We introduced you to Patches last week, when the very overweight cat was adopted. Patches' new owner said she's joining him on his weight-loss journey.

Ten months later and Patches is down to about 26 pounds. He’s doing great!

When cats get this big, the jokes stop being funny, and my heart breaks. I wish these big guys nothing but the longest of lives.

As a former fatty I don't understand how people think it's so cute when an animal is obese. It not only creates a slew of heath problems and shortens lifespan, but it's uncomfortable and even painful. Glad this kitty is getting help!

The mice in that house don’t have to worry.

holy cow! That's a smallest cow I'd ever seen!

Absolutely adorable!! He'll lose weight, chasing the dog around (:
  • How cruel to allow you beloved pet to become that obese!!! Thank you for helping him!!

This breaks my heart. I hope you can help patches get back to normal. Cats are not supposed to be this big. I'm glad he is not diabetic. Please hug him for me. I've had cats and Patches looks very loving.

The markings on Patches’s back look like angel wings.
  • Oh he's so cute! But I'm very glad he's getting help now, and he has someone who cares enough about him. I hope he lives a very long and happy life.
  • My Liam was diagnosed as a diabetic (he was over 22 lbs) back in Jan 2022. I had already been on a long journey myself to go into diabetic remission. What was cool was in July 2022 we both went into diabetic remission together (he is down to 18 lbs 9 oz as of Feb 2023). His vet doesn't think he will lose much more weight (his body shape means he is a very tall and long cat...so 17 1/2 to 18 1/2 lbs is healthy for him). He was able to stop insulin (and I stopped the last of my diabetes medication). So we keep each other in check :)

Thank you for saving him, obesity is obesity, and it’s deadly.

Anytime I see an obese animal or child, I feel both angry and heartbroken. I'm so grateful Patches now has an owner who actually cares about his health.
