Top 10 LONGEST Fantasy Books That Aren't Series

Publicado 2024-07-29
Out of the 83 fantasy standalones I read, these 10 LONG fantasy standalones are worth the page count! Every page of these big fantasy books is worth your time!

I used for the page count the number of pages that is displayed in Goodreads- this is a proxy as it will heavily change based on the word count and the edition! I tried using word count but it proved challenging as most books didn't have the information logged!

Elantris is my favorite fiction book that I have ever read. I loved it.

Lovers of the Priory of the Orange Tree unite! I love that book so much! Though it’s funny how you put it in the "not a series" video when the translation I read divides it into Part 1 and Part 2 (good idea for my poor hands which didn’t need to hold such a heavy book!).

Babel is one of my absolute favourites! It made me cry so hard!

I’ve heard good things about priory of the orange tree and I’m excited to eventually read it!

"The Sword of Kaigen" is one of my top favourites. It is absolutely astonishing how much depth and complexity M.L.Wang managed to give a character in just a single book. Thank you for the other recommendations as well, I'm adding some to my TBR.

So glad to see you mention The Night Circus - it does not get enough love!! It's one of my favourite books I've read so far this year.

Read Sword of Kaigen last week and LOVED IT! I need to read Guns of Dawn and Priory of the Orange Tree. Kings of the Wyld is awesome!
  • Hey Isa, Could you please do a video recommendation of fantasy books and series with just one pov?
  • Little, Big comes in at 538 pages and is well worth reading. The Night Land, at 584 pages, is so unreadable that a short version was made for the American market.

I just started reading fantasy books. The first one was The Red Pyramid what would you recommend with something like that being like that I thought about The Sword of kaigen what are your thoughts

Night circus is very dreamy. But sadly its all vibes and barely any plot or character. It doesnt even explore its characters in details There's no growth, nothing. Its really just vibes

Moving Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell to the top of the TBR! I'm so excited to read it, I admit I hesitated for years due to the length but... written by Susanna Clarke? Set in Regency England? Loved by Isa? There's no way I won't like it!

The Wheel of Time series is my favourite series ever, and Weaveworld by Clive Barker is my favourite standalone ever.
