One of the best protest songs ever written and one of the best videos ever created.

The emotion conveyed through this song never fails to hit, it really is a masterpeice.
  • Yes that type of singing is traditional Irish style. Land of SONG!
  • @timebleeder2814
I've been listening to this sing since it came out and it still has the same emotional impact as it did in the 90s.
  • Zombie is considered a protest song against the Northern Ireland conflict. Dolores O'Riordan RIP ( leadsinger) wrote the lyrics to the song during the band's 1993 tour of England in memory of two children (Jonathan Ball and Tim Parry) who were killed in an IRA bombing in Warrington on March 20, 1993. 😢😢😢

RIP Dolores, one of the best female voices ever!

The yodeling technique is Irish Keening. It's used in mourning the dead.

That primal impulse her voice triggers, that 'someone's hurt, there is pain' feeling... It's empathy, our most valuable survival instinct, that put us atop the food chain; and it's key to preventing our own destruction.

Rest in Peace Delores. Yes, "keening" is the ritual singing,
  • @kevenbridges9433
The ritual aspic isn't yodeling but keening . A way of expressing grief at a wake in Ireland.

Truly a heavy, heartbreaking song. Yet the tragedy it details must be addressed. I commend Dolores and the band for using music to decry the darkness of war.

Yes this song was written about a bombing in Warrington, they planted 2 bombs in bins outside a shopping precinct. 2 young boys were killed and a further 56 people were injured. This song is very deep.
  • @djd2819
Yeah, it's a masterpiece. One of the best bands with one of the greatest vocalists of all time just nailing the performance and delivering every ounce of emotion and power that those lyrics, sounds and images could possibly convey. It's a playlist song that deserves to be turned to 11.

For this performance, Dolores asked the drummers to hit the harder and louder he could. This track was made in memory of 2 children dead in IRA bombing terrorist attack.
