Welcome back to my part of the world. I know all of the roads you've been on so far 😀 Try crossing that ford in the winter when it is iced over and there's snow on the road ;-) Devil's Bridge is a lovely spot. The 'trail' you saw on the distant hill is actually the route of the Vale of Rheidol Railway - narrow gauge steam railway from Devil's Bridge to Aberystwyth. Very scenic!
  • Just imagine how important this video/trip will be to your kid in 50 years time when we’re gone. Priceless mate I’m so jealous/inspired your doing it mate

It's great that you both had the opportunity to watch these graceful birds, they are amazing to watch. However, their reintroduction to places like parts of Buckinghamshire around 1990 hasn't exactly gone to plan. Some people have taken it upon themselves to feed them and local butchers seem happy to supply meat scraps to feed them. This has encouraged them to stay in the area and not move away to find sources of food, which had been part of the original plan. The affect on smaller bird species has been dramatic and although Red Kites are said to be carrion, they have scared away smaller birds who mistake them for hawks. They will also take songbird fledglings, chicks of ground-nesting birds such as skylarks, lapwings, grey partridges, and curlews, all of which are on the RSPB’s Red List of conservation concern. Farmers and residents have noted that red kites target leverets during haymaking and have been seen snatching chicks from gardens and farms.
  • Great video wife and I went to Devils Bridge 30 years ago when our children were very young and had a great day out. Little me is very mature for his age. Keep up the good work.

I used to live a few miles from there! There used to be some accessible old lead mines close by in Cwmystwyth we used to go down (I think they closed all the entrances off now?) Needless to say some cool places around there such as the Hafod estate. I know ur probably long gone by now lol. This vid brought back some memories lol 🤙

My birthday a couple of days ago and I got a hat and some stickers from wandering where. Loved this vid. Red Kites are a great success story. Almost extinct 50 years ago . Now thriving. Devil's Bridge is rezlly cool. There use to be a great little free festival near there. Thanks for the birthday wishes. All the best to you and the lad.
