In this video I move into a 45sqft storage closet in Downtown Vancouver. I've always wanted to try living in downtown Vancouver and because of the cheap rent of this tiny space, I was able to! Would you live here? Am I paying too much for rent? This is my first time making a YouTube video in three years, and I can say I miss doing this a lot. Hope you enjoyed the video!

  • if you get yourself some galvanised square steel and eco friendly wood veneer you could really maximise your living space, especially if you borrowed some screws from your aunt.

Someone please sponsor this guy so he can upgrade to $700/month

Make sure you're getting good airflow in there as well man. If there is a gap under the door you're good but if not and it's a tight seal then crack the door open when sleeping if possible.

Imagine having someone move into your storage closet and not even removing your crap first
  • Born in 1950 & grew up 4 kids to a room so other than no window it’s cozy. Maybe use a small fan & keep the door cracked since you are living with what looks like fun friends. My daughter lived in my storage closet while doing her masters but I took the door off for air circulation & put a rolling blind for her.

Looka amazing ! Personally I would have got a bed fram raised extra high off the floor with rolling tupper under bed storage, a long narrow carpet beside the bed , small mirror , and a few floating shelves , and cant forget some a nice LED strip lights with over the door hooks for hanging towels, or coat or sweaters either inside or outside the door , and a small mini fan you could latch on to any shelf just to circulate some air with a mini purifier as well 😅

As beautiful as the apartment itself is, it's absolutely disgusting that as Canadians the cost of just having a roof over your head is astronomical, and that's an understatement. I live in Windsor, Ontario. Before the uncontrollable immigration and extreme rise in cost of living went up in Canada, you used to be able to rent out a huge 2 bedroom apartment in Windsor for $650/month with utilities included. This wasn't something from 20 years ago either, this is literally just a couple years prior to the pandemic, so roughly 2016-2019. Now I know Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal have always been much more expensive cities to live in because of their size and opportunities, but only being able to rent a closet for over half a grand a month is complete lunacy. I feel so sorry that you, me, and so many other Canadians now face this horrible cost of living situation, especially for those of us who hold university degrees. It's unreal that Canadians spend their 20's, paying to get a good education, to get a good job when they're 30, only to be able to rent a closet, and for an outrageous $650/month. Canada has become unlivable, and no longer an enjoyable country to live in. Even here in Windsor, that same 2 bedroom huge apartment that you could get for $650/month 5 years ago, is now $2000/month or more. I'm lucky that as a Macedonian/Greek immigrant family, we came here back in 1968. My grandparents worked for a few years and were able to buy a huge 4 story home, with a finished basement and attic, with kitchens and bathrooms on every floor. My grandparents bought our house for $12, 000 and paid it off in less than 5 years, barely speaking English. I'm now 36 years old, I was born here, and I'm only now finishing university. Luckily, my grandparents left me and my brother our home, which is now worth close to $1 million. And my uncle left me a 1 bedroom condo in downtown Windsor. I thought I had it bad living on disability in my fully paid condo (worth roughly $250K), while my brother lives in our jointly owned fully paid house. But now seeing this, I realize how lucky I truly am. I literally have more room just at my computer desk in my condo, than you have in that closet, and I thought I had it bad. All that said, I think once I finish my degree at 39 years old, I will rent my condo out, and probably move back to Greece, where the cost of living has not dramatically risen like in Canada. Or I will move to someplace cheaper, like Thailand, Vietnam, or South Korea and teach English, as my degree is in Modern languages and I already speak 5 languages myself. Canada has just become too expensive, even making a good wage, and I don't want to finish my university degree and be trapped in a 1 bedroom condo or have to move back to my family home, no matter how beautiful they are. I just want more out of life and more disposable income to do other things in life, other than paying for insane condo fees, property taxes, and utilities. I want to have lots of extra free money to have kids, travel the world, and bring meaning to my life. Despite my life truly starting in my late 30's. Goodbye Canada once my degree is finished. I really hope you get out of this ridiculously expensive closet and find a much better place to live soon <3

The amenities and area alone make that a steal. Pool, nice view with huge balcony.
  • 650 is what bachlour apartment went for in.Van 20 years ago , paying this to live in a.closet shoukd never be viewed as acceptable or a good way to save money ...
  • @notyourbestie
I hope the door has a cat door at the bottom. Then you can put a screen to still have privacy but have airflow also a lowered double bed but instead bed, you have a desk and closet at the bottom
  • @imapineapple15
You need a custom loft bed and you can have an office set up underneath
  • @user-bp4lx5xt4r
Also get a frame for your bed or else your mattress will get moldy
  • @user-xg2or5pz6y
Safe, clean apartment in a good neighborhood. Good kitchen, and bathroom. Looks good to me, as long as a bee fits in there its gravy. Much more important metrics to worry about. Like cleanliness, roommates, bug/rodents, bad landlord. Looks perfect there
  • @CasiyKNguien
get a bunkbed so you can out a desk and chain underneath it. Therefore, you have a bed and then a space for work as well

In prison, your windowless room is called solitary confinement. At least you can get out when you want to before it starts feeling like torture.
  • I'm renting a modern 3 bedroom house, with garage and backyard in Edmonton AB. Guess how much is the rent.
