🇫🇷 C’est après s’être fait renvoyer de Metallica en 1983 que Dave Mustaine décide de créer @Megadeth. Il a alors un objectif simple et clair en tête : « voir couler le sang de Metallica », rien que ça. Une soif de vengeance qui engendrera quelques-unes des plus belles pages du thrash metal. Joli coup du sort.
Entamée en 1985 avec Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good!, la discographie de Megadeth compte aujourd’hui une quinzaine d’albums. Le dernier opus en date des Américains répond au doux nom de The Sick, the Dying... and the Dead! et a été publié en 2022.
Même si un esprit revanchard a longtemps animé Megadeth, la hache de guerre semble avoir été enterrée lors de la tournée commune des apôtres du thrash metal que sont Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer et Anthrax (aka les Big Four of Thrash). C’est donc un Dave Mustaine en paix avec ses démons – mais pas paisible pour autant ! – que nous retrouvons sur la scène du Hellfest. Branchez les guitares !

🇩🇪 Als Dave Mustaine 1983 bei Metallica rausflog, beschloss er, Megadeth zu gründen. Dabei hatte er nur ein einziges Ziel vor Augen: „Das Blut von Metallica fließen zu sehen.“ Ironie des Schicksals: Sein Rachedurst sollte einige der schönsten Erlebnisse des Thrash Metal hervorbringen.
Die Diskografie von Megadeth startete 1985 mit „Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good!“. Heute umfasst sie 16 Alben. Das jüngste Werk der US-Amerikaner heißt „The Sick, the Dying... and the Dead!“ und wurde 2022 veröffentlicht.
Obwohl Megadeth lange Zeit von Rachegelüsten getrieben waren, scheint das Kriegsbeil für eine gemeinsame Tour der Thrash-Metal-Legenden Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer und Anthrax (aka The Big Four of Thrash) mittlerweile begraben worden zu sein. Dave Mustaine ist auf der Bühne des Hellfests also mit sich selbst im Reinen – deshalb aber noch lange nicht friedlich. Auf zum Angriff der Gitarren!

The comments on the live stream are despicable comparing Dave to Hetfield and making fun of him. Dave had throat cancer and faced numerous obstacles and he's still up there giving it his all - not to mention the technical skill of being able to play these riffs AND sing... Cut the man some slack, he's amazing.

62 years old, slaying to thousands every night, beat cancer, still playing heavy... what a legend, all these butt drinking haters have no idea how insignificant they are in comparison.

You can say whatever you want : Dave Mustaine is one the most talented master guitarists and one of the most influential songwriters over the past 4 decades. Respect to the artist, and thank you for what you brought to Music !

Have seen Megadeth dozens of times since '83 and while Dave has had issues with drugs and cancer and even age, he sounds really good here. Huge Metallica fan but love Megadeth, room for both, makes for a better musical life. Different bands, man. Really miss Kiko but Teemu is sooo good! No loss in Sonic Impact. Respect, all day. 🔥🎸🤘

I may not always agree with things Dave says or does, but the music stands the test of time and I’m glad he was able to overcome his health issues and come out on top. He still sounds great.

I was pleasantly surprised by this set list. Kick the Chair is an underrated gem.

Megadeth is so energetic with the current line-up; rhythm section by Dirk and James is pumping, Teemu has mastered all styles of previous lead guitarists, Dave is Dave so good in rhythm guitar. Saw them in Tilburg at 013, really crush the world with this amazing setlist. Good to see the godfather of thrash metal, he is still at the top.
