Exploring abandoned places is my hobby and finance it all out of my own pocket and the donations I get from the people who love watching the documentaries we make... A small donation would be greatly appreciated! ► www.patreon.com/brosofdecay

Siblings-the definition that comprises love, strife, competition, and forever friends.

Today we tell the story of Carlo and Maria, brother and sister, who grew up in a remote village in the Alpine Mountains of Italy. They were best friends from the day they were born and decided to spend their whole life together. When their parents passed away they split the family home into 2, Carlo lived on the right side and Maria on the left. They both got married, had children, and lived happy and long lives in their remote Alpine mountain houses. From the day they were born they made countless memories inside these walls. But unfortunately, great things don’t last forever, after both their children moved out in search of better opportunities, Carlo and Maria lived out their last years. Both of them rose to heaven around a decade ago and their forever loving houses are left to crumble and decay.

Today we will give you a glimpse of their former lives and take you on a tour through their magical kingdom.

  • I'm 52 now, but when I was 18, I had an Italian girlfriend who used to go home to Italy, to visit her family (grandparents, uncles and aunts) for holiday every year and she really loved it. She always told me, her family lives high up in an old village in the wine mountains and that it's one of the most joyful, peaceful and most beautiful places on earth. Her whole family, from all over the world came together and met there once a year to celebrate life! But after coming back "home" she was always wondering, what would happen to the place, after her grandparents would die, as she and her parents, siblings, cousins etc. was living outside Italy since generations. She was always worried, that when her grandparents would die, the place would die too and simply turn to dust! Because all family members were living spread around the whole world, and none of them would've been ready to return back to Italy to live in a mountain village. Today the grandparents are long gone and even me sometimes wonder what happened to their home in the mountains. As I know for sure, that none of the kids/grandkids went to live there after they died. I guess their home could just be like one of those beautiful places you are exploring today. Once upon a time a place full of love, life and happiness, today maybe a place abandoned, sad and lonely 🙁

I like how Lesley pulls out a chair and sits down in someone’s house like he lives there and tells us about their life! 😁
  • This house is clearly one of the 100’s of Italian houses that had to be abandoned after an earthquake. The reason so much is left behind is because the Italian government does not allow anyone to return after evacuation. In fact whole Italian towns/villages have been abandoned in this way. It’s heartbreaking to see.

You handle your explorations with such empathy and kindness towards those who have lived in the home or structure. The words about those people are so informative and interesting. Thank you for always doing such a great job!
  • Encyclopedias were how us old people googled stuff! Enjoy your channel very much. So happy that you're doing this full time! Can't wait to share your adventures with you.
  • Lesley, one day you will write a book about your adventures in documenting these poor forlorn homes and forgotten families. How wonderful their lives, and how sad that no one has taken charge of the family heirlooms. Keep up the great work.

  • I wonder if this house had earthquake damage. I got the impression that this was a family homeplace which had been divided between the 2 siblings and that maybe they used as secondary home for each family. Very cool video!

I was so nervous for you watching this! It’s so trashed! 😳 Everything was in such a bad state! I love really love when you visit places less dangerous, with beautiful things. Thanks for going places I could never go! Just don’t take chances with your life! 😊
  • My heart hurts to see beautiful homes decaying. We bought a 1862 home and threw alot of $$$$ into it. But I love it. And have been here 35 years already. I don't know how chlldren can leave with no interest anymore.
  • Wow Lesley, how many beautiful comments about this documentary: the intro with your Van. The presence of Maureno in the video. You are the best explorers. The beautiful story of Maria and Carlo. The interesting details left behind. All wonderful, deserves a lot of applauses. Good luck on your new Journey 👏👏❤❤🇧🇷
  • My sister who is 6 years older than me used to take me, when we were both kids, on what she called Haunted House Hunting. But it really is exactly what you do. We would piece together the lives of those from the abandoned homes. I would love to talk to you about doing this in the United States. After our political criminals, who are parading around as the current administration, are brought to justice though, which is hopefully very soon. Love to you from Wisconsin ❤.

Hi Lesley Wishing you continued success as a full time YouTuber - you are simply the best and worked hard to make this channel specially informative 😉👍🥂
  • I can understand some of the material possessions are left behind as they are so dilapidated but surely the personal memories should not be left behind. Those photos are priceless.
  • @surgicalg9143

  • @harmbron1794
Depending on where this is in Italy, the damage to the house could very well be caused by an earthquake
  • @kay9334
Hi Leslie, wow you really make me feel ancient! When you said you never used a telephone! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
  • @ruggedrick
