LYRICS:
I'm right here
I wish you knew the pain that I feel so near
It's worse than yesterday
Life changes in mysterious ways
All you've really got for certain is today, but I'm right here
Grinding through the pain

Whoa-oh-oh-oh
Whoa-oh-oh-oh
Whoa-oh-oh-oh
Whoa-oh-oh-oh
Whoa-oh-oh-oh
Whoa-oh-oh-oh
Whoa-oh-oh-oh

I'm still here
You can't make me ashamed more than I felt last year
It's nothing like today
I guess I'll stop wasting my time
Can't purge the rot from your cynical minds
Don't kid yourself for some peace of mind
You'll be forgotten by dinnertime

Whoa-oh-oh-oh
Whoa-oh-oh-oh
Whoa-oh-oh-oh
Whoa-oh-oh-oh
Life changes in mysterious ways
All for certain is today
Lifе changes in mysterious ways
All for certain is today
Whoa-oh-oh-oh
Is today
Whoa-oh-oh-oh
Whoa-oh-oh-oh

"Today" is a song that embodies the courage needed to stand up for oneself amidst societal pressures. In our video, we feature four stories highlighting the struggles of individuals fighting to embrace their true selves. The stories depicted in this project aim to highlight individual experiences and do not seek to generalize or stereotype any specific group, religion, or belief system. We recognize the diversity within communities and respect that not all individuals share the depicted beliefs or behaviors. A speech by Steve Jobs at Stanford University has profoundly influenced me throughout my life. His words resonate deeply: “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. Most importantly, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition; they somehow already know what you truly want to become.” Full speech here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hd_ptbiPoXM I firmly believe that everyone should live their lives as they choose. Who am I to judge? Happiness, in this increasingly complex world—rife with financial challenges, social media pressures, and societal expectations—should not be diminished by a lack of acceptance for one's true self or for making personal life choices. As we grow and evolve, change is inevitable. We are accountable for our choices and actions, but these should be ours to make (barring we are not hurting others). Creating this video, I was aware of its political nature and the potential for conflict in our comments. At Rare Americans, we care about everyone, regardless of appearance, background, socioeconomic status, gender identity, etc. If you're a good person doing your best, that's what matters to us. Frankly, if you cannot accept someone due to your belief system, perhaps our band isn't for you!

As a Christian, one of the teachings other Christians love forgetting about is to not judge others. God is the only one who can judge your moral character, Christians can pray for others in hopes they "find god" but aside from that you have no business to force others to comply to your beliefs.

I know that rare Americans probably won’t see this or will anyone, but I’m just thankful for Rare Americans, their music has gotten me through so much hardships in my life, and they still do. Some of my friends started our friendship by bonding over our share of their music, and those people are so important to me. Sometimes I wonder if I would still be here without of discovering their music, I know it sounds stupid, but some of these songs are about things in my life that I have dealt with. So I’m just saying that I might not have been here without discovering Rare Americans, thank you. I mean it.
  • Honestly, this probably hits home for a lot of people, and I as well. I admire and love the amount of commentary and bluntness included in your guys’ songs, and it both makes me cry and lifts me up.
  • @tmross9256
People are acting like the band just went “woke” out of nowhere when this kind of representation has always been here. Mad respect to you guys for keeping this stuff up, looking forward to more.
  • @astrocasserole
Short stories, impactful meaning. Sung in a wonderfully orchestrated song! I love this song so much you guys are amazing! Checking in from NY!
  • @bennie1202
I watched with alot of curiosity, usually bands stand by a rigid side that always called the other side wrong but you guys have time and again shown that our difference dont matter what matters is being a good person despite where you come from. As a christian I've seen time and time again what we call legalism meaning being stuck to a single interpretation of the bible but i and many others believe that there are many many lessons that can be taught from different angles and you can still love a person without agreeing with their life style and still praying for the best for them in whatever they face.
  • @randomaccount64
This was amazing guys!. Thank you so much. It's always awesome seeing a band support for many things that's I support or are apart of. You guys are amazing

Your song made me cry, it was so moving and so real… I have someone near me who is trans and… I’m terrified for them, and I’m part of the LGBTQ+ community as well… and I come from a very unjust country, every day was filled with fear specially being a young woman, I didn’t have so many options and I was in what is considered “good life style” or that’s what people thought, I left my country to search for new options, new people… it’s very hard to be away from everything I once knew… surrounded by people I don’t know in a culture I barely understand and a language I almost can’t speak… your songs and your band have given me a safe place, I remember having a panic attack and listening to your songs as a way of calming myself down, I feel like with a lot of your songs really… I can really connect because of my personality and my own life experiences and I find such a safe place in your music, thank you for this song… thank you for your music and your voices and opinions… thank you so much… keep at it! One of your biggest fans in YouTube and Spotify!

I've never felt so much hype for a band. Every message, every lyric and obviously the tune goes through my heart and just playing you guys has kept me going through and through and probably a lot of other people. If only you guys knew how amazing you truly are. Greetings from faraway Tallinn, Estonia! ♥️🇪🇪

As someone who does belive in god, this song was needed for the people, everyone is allowed to belive and like everything, gay people are allowed to love gay people just like people belive in gods

Rare americans honestly means so much to me. i met my half-brother wile working at an australian-made fast-food restaurant and one night we got super drunk and he showed me 'cats, dogs and rats' and i instantly fell in love. i turned 18 two weeks ago and for my birthday, my brother surprised me with a tattoo designed to wrap around my arm of a dog chasing a cat chasing a rat to symbolise our first time hanging out after meeting. love you guys so much, your music inspires me to study music
