20 years later and finally I noticed the Gym leader theme is a more heroic version of the trainer battle theme.

Hell yeah! Hard to believe it's been almost 20 years. The Hoenn region had the best music!

Favorite gym leader theme, always brings a tear to my eye. This game among others helped me during the horrible times in my so called childhood, thank you for making this
  • Still my favorite tune from the entire Pokemon franchise. Captures the feeling of an intense match.

What I love about this one is that at 0:13, it is actually quite upbeat. For the average trainer, lacking the player's guidance towards the destiny of championship, simply reaching a gym leader is must be a huge deal. Win or lose, it is an honor to simply stand before them.

Never realized how 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 this theme was until now!!!! Also: Flannery's Torkoal used Overheat on this composition!!🔥🔥😍😍😍👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
  • I haven’t been able to find any flaws with this theme. It’s really a three part story:the start of the battle, then the gym leader absolutely destroying you then the last part with the heroic struggle and eventual comeback to achieve victory
  • @Milkyskies_
when you face off against the bully in school
  • 1:10 Jhoto Gym leader riff. In ORAS its confirmed that you and your family come from the Jhoto region. So it makes sense.
  • I’m a girl and I remember playing my Pokémon toys as a battle while playing this when I was 9 lol
  • That moment when the kid you helped defeat a legendary Pokemon no more than five minutes ago rolls up to your gym and proceeds to kick your ass with that very same Pokemon
  • Flannery's Torkal used overheat that took out my Swellow in one hit, thus harshly lowering Torkoal's Special Attack, and then my Swellow fainted. I threw in Marshtomp to finish the job using Mud Shot many times on Torkoal, and a few seconds later, Torkoal had fainted, leaving my Marshtomp the only one left that did not faint in battle, defeated Flannery, and got her Gym Badge.
  • As far I recall Pokemon Ruby (OG) was the only game I delayed the battle as long as possible just to enjoy the soundtrack since it has some of the best in the series. listening to it through youtube just send shivers down my body and one of the few to give a reason not to throw away the manual for the Regi's deciphering or the SwimmerGirl with her sneaky dialogue if she's swimming where does she keep her pokeballs? all good memories!
  • Good or bad childhoods may be but pokemon always took me to a different world no matter the circumstances...Thanks Pokémon.
