This one's been a long time coming... Ever since my early days of YouTube I've always toyed with the thought of a 3rd gen medley. I guess the urge finally reached a critical level last year when I decided to finally give it a shot.

Ever since I played it for the first time, Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire have held a special place in my heart as one of the most enjoyable games I've played, due in large part to the incredible soundtrack. I think most of us would agree that the remakes fell flat when it came to capturing the feels of the original, so I made it my mission with this medley to do just that: not only to capture the spirit of the originals, but to add to them in a tasteful way that respects the vision of each song, as well as attempting to tie them together in one cohesive piece of music.

No aspect of the arrangements was overlooked, from each roaring trumpet line to each background synthesizer, which I spent excessive amounts of time trying to perfect. I sincerely hope that I did the soundtrack justice and I hope you enjoy this little journey through the world of Hoenn as much as I did making it.

A huge thanks to all the guest artists who made this project possible, with a notable mention to Marc Papeghin on the brass, the only person I could possibly imagine to do the infamous trumpet parts justice. Please check them out below:

This was actually my last Pokemon game before I entered the real world, things were not good at home so this game was my escape. So many hours playing, listening to this takes me back to those days. Now I play this video every night so my 3yr daughter go to sleep, she obviously doesn't know what it is but asks for me to put it specifically. I'm just extremely happy to see her enjoy something that brings me so many memories. Thanks for making this. As a fellow musician I Know the hard work this most have taken.
  • Hearing Littleroot Town's theme hit me with this incredible wave of emotion. I remember being so excited when my dad took me to GameStop to pick up Pokemon Ruby. It was a used copy and I booted it up. The guy before me had so many hours played and 7 year old me was wow'd at all his legendaries (in retrospect they were most definitely hacked but I didn't even know what hacks were at the time). I walked around on his save file a bit before ultimately starting my game. I felt a bit bad deleting all that progress, but I knew I had to experience the game for myself. Sometimes I still think about how many hours of memories are stored on those carts. Thanks for helping me remember what wonderful memories this game gave me.

He didn't have to go that hard on the trumpets. But he did. He did that for us.
  • You ever run into something that makes you aware of how thankful you are the internet exists?
  • @makonevernow
2023 and this is still the best Pokémon video on YouTube. As someone who grew up with Gen 3, thank you to everyone involved in this spectacular production. 💕🌋🌊

I remember doing little chores for my dad and then he gave me a little bit of money, so I could save up for when Pokémon Ruby released. He made sure I had just enough on the release date. He tought me that you have to work for the things you really want. I also remember going to the store with him to buy the game and playing it and try to explain him everything that happened. He did not understand a thing of it, but he tried to remember the names of all the Pokémon. So sometimes he asked: 'did you're Chikorita already evolved?' Even tho he did not have a clue what that meant, he did it for me... My dad passed away last year due to cancer. Listening to this medly made me cry, because I am thinking about those times. Thinking about how well my dad raised me, and reliving those memories. The nostalgy is real... Thanks for making this video guys... ❤

This video gives me goosebumps, got both Sapphire and Ruby for my birthday in 2003 and as an 8 year old i put a lot of time into them. These songs are forever burned into my heart and soul and your rendition of them is perfect. Thank you for making this

The thing about the RSE soundtrack that sets it apart from all the other pokemon soundtracks, is that it seemed like they were having so much fun. Up to this point in time -you moved to a new place, so everything was a brand new adventure -your rival was actually your friend -the champion was a non-threatening mentor -your dad was a gym leader, so it seemed like you were a part of the league community It almost seemed like the world wasn't out to get you, of course, until Maxie or Archie appeared. Even then, I'd argue they're themes are in the top 2, dare I say, it's not 2.
