Hafco DRO on the lathe...

2023-10-19に共有
Gday, After owning the lathe for 3 years it was time to fit a DRO, I went with one from Hare and Forbes (Hafco), This uses Sino Scales and Hafco Metalmaster branded monitor, This was quite an easy fitment in the end,
Appreciate you watching, Cheers

Drill and tap a hole just below the x axis scale. Put a bolt in it that sits just proud of the scale. This will act as a bumpstop and protect your scale when you get a little aggresive with the tailstock. Well done.
  • New DRO and no dog house overnight stay.... Sounds like a win win situation 👍👍 I like that display, way easier to read than the typical red. Well Done Matty ! Cheers.....
  • Yes, there's a ton of others sharing their installs, but we know when our Matty does something, it will be done nice and neat! Tell the misses we viewers thank her too 👍😁❤️

The DRO should be a big time saver. Nice clean installation, looks good. One day at a time during the chemo. Any insult to the body makes it tough to be motivated. Thanks for sharing.

Good to see "Domestic Management" is looking after you!
  • I really enjoy your videos, as a retired welder by trade I love watching anything about fabrication. I was sent over to your channel by Curtis now I get to see both ends of the machining spectrum. I am going back to watch some of your older videos .especially like the fact you show when things don't go as planed and how to overcome. Keep the content coming. God Bless. Rexy from West Virginia

Congrats on the DRO install, you'll love it if you trust it. Now, you have to learn to trust the numbers on the DRO. This is a massive UPGRADE,,, enjoy it.
  • Best thing I ever did, putting a DRO on my old LD 1240 lathe. I also got mine from Hare and Forbes when they were running a deal some time ago. I managed to get it fitted up using the bracketry that came in the kit. Still learning how to operate it, but between yourself and Kurtis I'm getting more and more comfortable with it.

No stopping you now Matty. It's something I have wanted to do to the little Myford ever since I bought it. Looks very neat too. Take care. See you on the next one. Steve.
  • How awesome a DRO with the boss approval 😂. So glad you got a DRO Matty. Great video mate
  • DRO….. The best ‘aide memoir’ for us forgetful old bastards 🤣 I couldn’t do without mine now mate 😎 Bloody well done 👍 Regards Robert

Awesome as always Matty. Just do what you can manage for content. Don’t stress yourself, on our behalf mate. Everyone will still watch, regardless what you put out. Heck you could stand on your head and pull streamers out of your pockets & we would still watch. 👍😜😂🇦🇺
  • Congrats Matty. I am sure the DRO will be extremely useful for you. You got this cancer beat mate! Still thinking of you and the family. Wish I was a little closer to you to be able to help. Keep a stiff upper lip. Cheers
  • @Mr.Avuncular

  • @624Dudley
From undecided, to installed and working, in just a couple of weeks! Good on ya, Matty 👍
  • You are going to love having that DRO. I mounted mine the same as you did yours. Only thing I did different was mount the excess cabling to the backsplash.
  • @wayne5022
Long overdue Matty, but ever so well deserved. May your DRO bring you many years joy. All the very best to you and your loved ones.

DRO looks great, really pleased the fitting went well. DROs on lathes and mills are fantastic time and accuracy boosters, saving on scrap components too. You're looking good too mate, regards to you and family, great post, thank you 👍
  • Santa 🎅 came early to you this year 😁 Nice neat job fitting it all up, and you won't look back, they make life so much easier. 👍
