  • Everytime you feel ugly, go outside look at other real people! Even the prettiest person irl looks like a human. The internet is basically just like the sims now. The internet is like a CGI landscape full if avatars and shouldn't be considered anything else but that. Remeber your a cute meat suit and its time to go outside and see other carbon based life forms ♡ Edit: Wow crazy, I did not realize this blew up till 4 months later! Seeing peoples responses has been so interesting. I'm really surprised by the people who thought I was angry or jealous! Just an interesting reminder to myself that we all read peoples tones differently in our heads. To all the people that feel ugly outside, I wish you the best on learning to love yourself in spite of that feeling. Your worth is so much more than how you are perceived <3

We need to stop treating our bodies like fast fashion.
  • @lm-bw4qf
i deleted socials except for pinterest/youtube so watching how fucked everything has become from an outside perspective is so interesting. i had to film myself doing workouts for a college health class a week ago and i didn’t even care how my body looked. that’s 7 months off of social media for you.

I used to be friends with someone who filters her photos so much she doesn't even look like herself. I remember my ex didn't even recognize her when they first met because he'd only seen her filtered photos. Lately it's getting worse to the point where I don't even realize it's her when she pops up on my timeline until I check the username. It's like watching someone have an insecurity mental breakdown in front of you.

Texas recently banned a lot of Instagram filters and I wasn’t mad about it. I purposefully try to avoid social media most of the time in order to not compare myself and I still find myself doing it. I can’t imagine if I was younger or if I was exposed to more than I already am. It’s a serious problem IMO

The female gaze isn't about objectification of "male bodies" It's about seeing through the object and the portrayal of the feeling subject It's not just the genderswapped version of the male gaze
  • I've been working in fashion industry for many years (I'm a fashion photographer, model coach and stylist) and due to my job I've known how to edit the photos waaaay before the "filter era" has begun. I can recognize when filters are being used even ifthye're used in a very smart and delicate way... I can the plastic surgery on celebrity's faces etc. But that's not the case actually. I've edited such a huuuuge amount of photos in my life - ad campaigns, lookbooks, magazines, I've worked with gorgeous people, unique people. And still the clients would want me to edit them. They are NEVER beautiful enough, perfect enough... Literally. This is what the industry is doing, this is what the trends are doing - they make people wanna be unreal, unreachable and they create so many insecurities among everyone, even the top model (and models are actually some of the most insecure people tbh). I don't judge anyone who uses the extremely unrealistic filters, it's their choice. I do edit my photos sometimes too. But every time I get an urge to "filter" myself and modify my body, there's something "clicking" in my brain, in my head... And I just can't standing looking at it, because it's not me at all. And I am capable of making a "covergirl" photo / video out of anyone. This is just isn't right. At least for myself. Okay... This topic is definitely what's been bothering me for awhile, so I apologize for an endless comment. Love your videos, Zoe! 💗💗💗

TikTok is banned in India, I’m living a happy life

There’s a woman who does fashion videos, I don’t remember her name right now, but she starts every video in only her undergarments and builds the outfit. There is nothing inherently wrong with that, but I started to be weirded out when the title of one of her videos was “No food for the belly just vibes.”

Men with abs still belong to the category of the male gaze, as in "the male power fantasy", the female gaze is more emotionally, things you'd find in a female written romance book are classically the female gaze.
  • @Kimiya
The female gaze isn't gawking at male abs - that's actually the male gaze too. It doesn't matter which gender the subject or viewer is, but if it is objectified/sexualized like the examples you have shown, then it's still the male gaze. I'm sure that a video abt the differences between the male and female gaze would be super interesting.
  • @IN.THE_GETO
honestly everything you just said is so true. I feel as if our generation isn't accepting our bodies in its most natural form. We strive for a 'perfect' body due to beauty standards not knowing when they might change. <3 thank you Zoe for reminding me to stay true to myself regardless of how toxic beauty standards are
  • @wackykookykatie
Being an artist who studies anatomy has been a godsend when viewing social media. I know what's humanly possible and what's not, and I think that's saved me a lot of mental anguish.
  • Finally someone's talking about this, every time I see these kind of videos, it makes me feel so bad about myself, it makes me feel like I have to look and dress this way in order to look pretty on society's standards. Like, I'm trying to accept myself and my appearance for what it is but its kind of hard to do that when all the media looks like this.😐😐😐

When I met my first "boyfriend" I was like 12 and I was chubby and didn't take care of myself enough, I looked fairly unattractive so I used filters on my photos. We met online and when we met in real life I could see the disappointment on his face 💀 it didn't last, I wonder why lol
  • @TheLily97232
This is partly why I am not that fond of women constantly exposing their bodies on the Internet. It can feel like empowerment. But at the end of the day all it does it perpetuate what we claim to fight against : our objectification, our subjection to the male gaze and such.
  • What I believe is that you should never try to not feel insecure saying that "everything is fake or edited ". What we should learn to do is to not compare ourselves to other people whether it's fake or real. Saying "everything is fake" gives people a wrong idea sometimes. If someone naturally has a body or facial features that considered beautiful according to the beauty standards, everyone is gonna start believing that it's not natural and hating on that person commenting things like "you're so fake" or "you just edit yourself". If you know the point I'm trying to make.
  • @saqqara.alej1
i was just really upset about how i could never look like the people on my fyp, but to see how easily it is to edit and change your body, i don't know how to feel anymore-
  • @angiedamien137
This is why I refuse to get TikTok, Instagram or use too much social media. The only thing I have is Facebook but the only reason why I have it is because I had it for years (since High School). I feel like that I even use that too much at times. Not saying that social media is bad but it should be used in moderation because it can be unhealthy, FYI all of you are beautiful. We have to stop comparing ourselves to others because in the end of the day, we can only be OURSELVES and we can only ACCEPT OURSELVES ❤️❤️❤️❤️
