  • Russ, I noticed as you were easing through all the parked cars along the road where everyone was taking pictures: There was an elk eating between the 17:50 and 18:00!
  • I don't know if you get up early but the "light show" unfolds early in the morning and at sundown, when slanted light reveals all the features and relief of the Grand Canyon. I spent a Summer week in the South Rim of Grand Canyon Nat'l Park for 5 years between 2013 and 2019 and, in June and July, the show happens between 5h00 and 6h00 AM and around 8h00 PM. Midday is the worst time to observe the canyon but maybe late Fall's slanted light helps as it is less "overhead" than in the Summer. Lipan Point is the best site early and late in the day. I even saw the Canyon with snow when I went there on December 30, 1978. The North Rim is a totally different experience but it closes early. Your video brings back tons of memories, as I may never be able to get back there. Oh, come to think of it, beware of the mountain lions roaming the Park during the night if you camp there !!! Best Regards and stay safe !
  • The Grand Canyon is one of those places that you just have to be there in person to appreciate the views.
  • One of my favorite books is "Over the Edge: Death in Grand Canyon," by Ghiglieri and Myers. Both were ex-park rangers there, one the medical director. A classic non-fiction book.
  • Awesome footage Russ! As usual…2 👍🏻👍🏻
  • The Grand Canyon is some of God's greatest work. I know I sound like a broken record but its beauty has to be seen in person. Video doesn't do it justice. Its my favorite national park. The only National Park that comes any where close to it is the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.

Thanks for letting us all travel along with you - great fun!
  • Yey! On another spectacular road trip. Every trip you share Russ, is like being on a road trip with your best friend. Stay safe out there!
  • visited the Grand Canyon late December of 1980...she looks just like I remember...much better in person standing at the edge...the magnificence took my breath away.
  • @msinummik
YOU SHOULD CHECK OUT THE NORTH RIM! So many Fall colors! We just went through there last month, and there were tons of aspen and even saw some bison! You would love it, Russ! Love your show! ❤
  • I guess the chipmunks don't like pumpkins ? So surprised it was so busy. Awesome views. Thank you Russ.
  • Hi Russ, been there two times many years ago and it still amazes me. You have to see it in person to appreciate the wonder. Great video again today. Thanks 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍
  • I took the Greyhound from Phoenix through Williams to Laughlin. I could have stayed a night in Williams and took the train to the south rim. But, I got a better view of the canyon riding with Russ. Thanks, Russ. The only drawback is that we don't stop for coffee at McDonalds!!
  • Yet another top-notch road trip video by Russ. Keep them coming. It gives you a good idea of how far away the North Rimi is as the dark line on the horizon is the pine forest.
