I love how all these adhd videos are under 5 minutes

"We know you're really smart - you just need to pull up your socks." Almost every teacher ever.
  • I was just diagnosed with ADD. I’m 40, and I’ve been struggling my whole life with all of this. I’m really upset that I’ve been living this way the whole time and I’m wondering of what I could have accomplished if I just had a little help. I start medication tomorrow, and tomorrow starts the new version of myself. Take care everybody.

Anyone else sittin here on their first dose of treatment as an adult after unknowingly suffering from ADHD all their lives? Yeah, me too. Except I just spent 8 hours writing my novel, which would normally be 10 minutes trying to begin writing my novel followed by 7 hours and 50 minutes of gaming. Seek treatment if you think you need it, seriously.

I have ADHD and medication has improved my symptoms. With my symptoms improving my self esteem has gotten so much better and I’m able to accomplish all of my daily tasks and take care of myself.

When he said " I am an adult psychiatrist" I wondered if there were psychiatrists under 18... :-D

My parents didn’t want me to take meds, so I never got diagnosed. I also got kicked out of every class & dropped out of high school, then started abusing illegal drugs. I can guarantee if I would’ve gotten on meds my life trajectory would have been a lot different than it has been, but ultimately I can’t change the past the only time frame I can alter is now

“I know you can do it you’re just not trying” 🤦🏻‍♂️my whole life

Literally everything he says is 100% accurate, it’s almost funny Experienced it my whole life. Always deliver every single assignment I’ve had last minute (and write it then too). Always told I’m smart and that I’d do so great if I applied myself. I rarely payed attention in class and never did homework, but still got straight A’s up until year 9 (not claiming I’m a genius, my grades lowered bit by bit when I got older and subjects got more complicated). A possibility is that I developed a work-around to procrastinating homework: I developed the ability to process information more effectively or structured as a symptom of add. Could also be that I developed memorization techniques that after loads of time became second nature. I’m still way better at learning and memorizing through listening. My mom and I have a theory on how people with add or adhd get great grades even though they don’t pay attention in class. She explained that her friends daughter doesn’t pay attention either but gets surprisingly good grades. The thing is, sight and hearing are independent. With add I don’t need to FOCUS my vision, I just need to move it around and look at things. When doing that, I catch audio from the teacher speaking instead of other sounds, even though I’m looking away (subconsciously). Both I and my teacher are surprised when I’m caught staring into open air and asks what he talked about earlier (and I get it correct). Has anybody else experienced similar things? I feel like my personal experience isn’t all that uncommon.

There's so much comfort in these comment sections. I feel as though I've found my people. I don't feel soo lonely.

"...which is great advice for a person who has socks." Lol

I noticed the PDF at 2:02 and started thinking about my PDF-file which I was supposed to return to school. And then I noticed the video was ended and I had to rewind to that PDF part and really pay attention the last remaining minute.

“i know you’re a bright kid, i just wish you would apply yourself more” - if i had a dollar everytime i’ve heard that i wouldn’t be broke.

I had a hard time concentrating on this video .. also might be because it’s 1am and I can’t sleep
  • Damnit...I think I have this. I always thought my crazy rants made me a fun teacher, but now I worry I have been a huge distraction to my students.

This video gives me hope of not being a hella dysfunctional adult that won't achieve anything in life 😭

I know someone who’s feeling empty, feeling bored on long conversations, low self-esteem and sometimes forgetful.. Ahh i remember, it’s Me. 🤦‍♀️

I wish I met you in 1986 when I went to a psychiatrist and later in 2006. Both times they said that since I got a College degree, it was no need for medication. This country in which I live, there is no Adderall, Concerta, Abretia, etc. Only Strattera and Ritalin... incredible!!! My life would have been so different with the proper medication.
