It looks like the beginning of something bigger.” I took a look at the creature; it was shot twice in the chest. This one appears to be more powerful than any I have seen before. Whatever sent it probably wants to try and bring down the city. You’d think that it’d pay attention to the countless previous attempts by various people and creatures. The one thing they have in common is that they’re all either dead or in prison. Of course, this could just be an attempt to do damage. That could be done. As for the monster, the gunshot wounds were fatal. I won’t be getting any information out of it. I want to find out how far this goes and hopefully stop it. With what this city has been through, they don’t need this as well. Someone came over with information, “Another call of an assault, three guesses what the suspect is.” “An entity so powerful it could be considered a deity? Wait, a shadow monster.” “The second guess is correct. It was taken into custody and is being taken downtown.” “I have nothing left to do here. That monster’s lucky the police got to it first. I usually just kill them, the APD tries to arrest them. Although I don’t usually deal with intelligent ones. If they are, I try to leave them alive. An officer is talking to the creature, “You have the right to remain silent. You may refuse to answer any questions or stop answering questions after starting. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to have a lawyer present. Even if you don’t initially request a lawyer present, you can later change your mind. You’ll be tried and sentenced under their laws. After all, I get the bounty for your capture either way. So where would you rather go, the gallows or prison?” “Fine, I’ll tell you everything I know. There were originally five of us. I was exploring the city at the same time as one of my colleagues. The other three were hiding in a warehouse. It used to be owned by signal limited.” The officer left to pass on the information, leaving me alone with the monster. “Thanks for the information. Also, you should have asked for a lawyer.” “Why?” “They would have called my bluff. I can’t have you transferred to my world. The APD wouldn’t go through with it since you’d be sentenced to death.” “What about the warrants?” “They were for you being a shadow creature, not actual crimes. They will be revoked and discarded.” “Well, Farzeen, you are far better at this than I gave you credit for. And for someone who calls themself ‘Farzeen the monster hunter,’ you didn’t do any hunting to find me.” “I never said I wouldn’t work with the locals.” “How did you find out we were here?” “Your colleague, he was killed after attacking a pair of cops. Then you were arrested. Do you have any other questions?” “No.” “Then my job here is done.” “What about the warehouse?” “The APD has that covered.” After filling out some paperwork, I left and went back to my hotel room. I had originally come here on vacation, seems that my job followed me. I plan on being here for another two days, plenty of time to enjoy my vacation.
