The city had long been abandoned. It could no longer even be called a city. The grotesque buildings towering over the blackened earth, scorched by chemical and nuclear bombardments, seemed to stare at the rare wanderers who strayed into these parts with a silent reproach, reminding them that everything that had happened was the work of human hands. These structures seemed to ask, "So, how do you like your technological progress, enjoy it?" In the distance, a sheet of metal roofing creaked with a piercing howl, as if longing to tear away and bid farewell to this place. The sound in such areas was truly eerie and frightening, but the worst was its absence, when you realized that "something was wrong" and you slowly went mad with fear that this was one of those newly formed anomalies that blocked the spread of high-frequency waves, leaving only a hum, as if the earth itself was sick to its stomach and about to vomit with another emission. In such moments, seasoned stalkers pray not to survive, but for a quick and painless death.

A man in a black, tattered stalker suit wiped his mask, changed the air filter, checked an old pre-war map, and slowly moved further into the thick fog...
