The PS1 was also far easier to program for than the N64, so it was really a no brainer for devs to make games for Sony instead.
  • Almost the whole gaming industry destroys itself at the moment.

I remember a time where the PS3 gave us a whole list of features. - Free online Multiplayer access with PSN - Blu ray player - Multiple options for storage - Memory stick Pro Duo - SD Card - PS2 memory card - Hard drive - USB - Multiple ways to listen to or watch media - Video Files (Movies, TV shows, Music Videos, or any recorded video - Music - CD Audio, MP3, WMA - Pictures in various formats - Custom themes for the console to use that we made ourselves. - Backwards compatibility of PS2 games, and PS1 games on Disc - Linux installtion on otherOS options with playstation. We lost linux and backwards compatibility on PS3 but had everything else. once PS4 came out we lost everything including our right free multiplayer online access. Couple of years later and the price went up higher. And it just went up higher again a year ago. Sony is corrupted with greed.

Still can't get over how nice of a game collection that is.

Next year I'll have Switch 2 and my PC, and that's all I will need.
  • N64 cartridges were 4MB to 64MB. CD's are 700MB. Even on 12 cartridges 3 CD's would have been so heavily compressed that the FMV's and graphics in general would have taken a massive hit and looked terrible.
  • It is certain that the choices of the management of Sony will cause a lot of wrong but they are not the only ones to make bad choices even on the sides of Xbox Gaming is the same. The US branch of Sony is completely in opposition to their past value when Sony was directed by the Japanese branch

seems like Nintendo might be the only one left at the top of the mountain if this keeps up lol history always repeats itself
  • This whole new generation has been very questionable for sony 😐 🙄

Both Sony and Microsoft have disappointed me this generation. Well actually Microsoft disappointed last generation too…
  • For me as a primarily portable gamer (since I just don't have the time for console or PC gaming as I do it mainly during commutes), the lack of any follow up to the Vita is what's killed interest for me. Hell, they didn't seem that invested in the Vita during its lifecycle which is a shame as IMO it's a really quite incredible handheld. Now that I've jailbroken both my 3ds and Vita and literally have more games on there than I'll ever have time to finish, I just have no reason to pick up a modern console for the foreseeable future. It's a shame that companies seem to have so little interest in portable gaming now, with options being either mobile games blown up to console size or "proper console/pc games" that you can take with you. But neither give the experience of games DESIGNED to be played on a portable system like the Vita or 3ds.
  • Sony has become too Americanised. Sony should move back to Japan and ditch the blue haired Disney shite.
  • 1 reason and 1 reason only shareholders, the reason steam is able to stay consumer friendly is because it’s a private company not beholding to investors who don’t care anything for gamers only wanting their investments back with interest.

I loved ROM cartridges, because you could address data directly with the CPU without having it to load it into RAM and at the time with systems with less 512kb RAM that was a huge deal. I think the worst offense from Sony was during covid lockout they did absolutely nothing to protect their consumer base when there was a shortage of PS5s and people desperate enough (fan boys) were paying thousands of dollars to get their precious PS5
  • @greenkoopa
The Koopa brand is still going strong, maybe they should've licensed Kart Fighters or Krack the Hack js 🤷‍♂️🐢🐢
  • @Ghennesph
I always wondered how it was possible Sony had a positive reputation to begin with.
