I understand the reasons for not showing the images of Berlin 1936. However, it was precisely in these games that the tradition of bringing the Olympic flame from Olympia to the host city began, as well as the lighting of the cauldron within the opening ceremony.

I have a special affection for Athens and Rio. Barcelona was impressive.
  • @dimaolra
Barcelona '92 the best one yet.

The best Olympic Cauldron Lighting I've ever seen by far is 1992 Barcelona. Impressive !

The lightnings of Barcelona and Sydney were breathtaking. Moscow had a performace I like. Muhammed Ali was aswesome. Rio had a lovely cauldron, I really like it

The Sun from Rio 2016 will keep on shining and giving us hope until the upcoming games next year πŸ‡§πŸ‡·β˜€οΈπŸ‡―πŸ‡΅.
  • Barcelona is the best I’ve seen. Elegant, spectacular, dramatic, beautiful. I remember watching it live, I welled up when the arrow hit the cauldron.

I have two personal favorites: first Barcelona for its creativity, out of the box thinking, wow factor and message. It seems like it praises human capabilities (just like the Olympics do). I, also, like Athens 2004 for its simplicity and symbolism: it looks like the last torch in the torch relay and, moreover, it seems like the cauldron bows to the athlete.

Barcelona 92 remains the best. I replayed that part over and over again. But Atlanta 96 was the most emotional for me
  • Today right now it would be the Opening Ceremony of the Games of the XXXII Olympiad in Tokyo and I would be watching on TV. But the Covid-19 interrupted this moment.

Berlin 1936 should be included too. There has to be some footage of, at least, just the cauldron being lit, without any flags, salutes or whatever that can be considered inappropiate for this video. I at least have seen videos of the ceremony and there's parts where nothing but the cauldron is shown.

I'm Brazilian however Barcelona olimpic games it was amazing.
  • Every cauldron is beautiful, but by asthetic sence, by execution of beauty, by representation of thoughts, 2012 London's LOTUS CAULDRON and 2016 Rio's SUN CAULDRON are the JOINT GOLD MEDALIST.πŸ₯‡πŸ₯‡

None as badass as Barcelona. I don't think anyone will beat that ever.
