This week I am tackling the impossible, by turning this into that featuring me turing a store bough grocery store cake into a elegant modern trendy wedding cake. The grocery store cake was iced in whipped buttercream icing and I am going to use that frosting to ice the bridal cake. This DIY wedding cake was so easy to make. I will show you how to create a two tiered cake iced in pink and navy bule icing and covered in gold leaf, and fresh roses and orchid flowers. Let's do this!

  • Here's a couple tips from a retired decorator; freeze your cakes before stacking, the shortening/butter hardens and if you work quickly you won't get any finger prints on it. For the flowers, have a pot of melted parafin wax on hand, it doesn't have to be super hot but warm enough that it's in liquid form. Dip the cut ends of the flowers into the wax and it seals them, no liquids or chemicals from the tape get absorbed into the cake. Find yourself a wider spatula to lift your cakes, using an offset spatula doesn't give you the stability you need when lifting the weight of a cake. I absolutely love the concept of what you've done here specially with what's going on in the world today.
  • I like that she talks WHILE doing what she's doing from the start. Unlike others who rant on for 20 mins before even beginning the tutorial

Some people are just meant to be in front of a camera and some people just shouldn't.. you my dear just shine, I had zero desire to make a wedding cake out of 2 store cakes, but your smile, your voice, your sense of humor, and your personality just made me stick around. I'm now on my way to the store to buy two cakes, and I'm going to beg someone to get married just so I can make their wedding cake🤣🥰 I'm now a subscriber and a fan
  • Can you imagine paying full price for a wedding cake all the while your baker was doing it this way! 😂
  • This was in my recommendeds, but this lady’s personality is so fun I think I might just stick around!
  • People are acting like she’s trying to sell these cakes or she’s trying to persuade people to do this instead of buying cakes She just decided to try it for fun, calm down a bit. It looks cool!
  • I got my wedding cake/cupcakes from grocery store and I was pretty happy with it. It wasn't the most stunning thing to look at, but it was enough for our very small, humble, family and best friends only kind of wedding. They tasted great and it's the happy memories that comes with it that matters the most.

It’s kind of alarming that she was able to convincingly do that. It just shows that they could sell you a garbage cake underneath pretty icing and pass it off as a high quality item. Nice job, though!
  • There are so many couples who simply can’t afford a wedding cake. This will help them diy it. The cake turned out amazing!
  • As someone who works at a grocery store bakery: No one levels the cakes. They come in as frozen half sheet that we cut to size and we slap icing on it.
  • I think the reason it was quoted at $400 is because they're assuming the flowers and detailing is edible. Professional cakes are expensive because of all the fine details that are made by hand and are edible. Time and skill goes into making each rose petal to make just one rose. The more realistic and pristine the decorations look, the more expensive.
  • This made me so happy. I got married in 2016 and made my own cake. Three square tiers. I had never made a tiered cake before but I used the same method with straws. I made buttercream and tinted it turquoise blue, and for decoration I had gold leaf that i just patted on! I'm delighted to finally find out how much money I saved. I loved the smoky blue and pale pink you chose by the way.
  • Haha so funny how this video just randomly showed up in everyone’s recommended videos! Glad I clicked on it 😅👏🏾😂
  • This is how people should approach life! She was met with challenges nearly every step of the way, took it all in stride and with a cheerful "let's figure this out" attitude. Just watching this made me feel good. :) Love it!
  • Love the video but honestly I would never pay for that wedding cake that much... Props to you for enhancing 20$ cake, you did a great work, but 450$ for that?? No way.. Also would love to see final product and what's the total price for it since you added much more icing, plus decorations, so price was definitely over 20$, just the leaves decor was three times the price of the store cake...
  • @lususlove
I like that she got straight to the point and started making the cake and didn’t waste time talking.
  • When I got married back in 2009, I went to Walmart to ask about wedding cake cost. The lady creating the cakes actually designed wedding cakes and showed us pictures. Long story short, I ordered my wedding cake from Walmart, seven tiers (large wedding) and absolutely perfect... would I have ever told my guests, nope! I got a ton of compliments on how wonderful it tasted and how beautiful it was!
  • Being a bride on a budget with the thirst for craft ideas, this is the perfect video! Beautiful job btw
