Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse Movie Description:

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is a 2018 American computer-animated superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Miles Morales / Spider-Man, produced by Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation in association with Marvel Entertainment. Distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing, it is the first animated film in the Spider-Man franchise. Directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman (in Persichetti and Rothman's feature directorial debuts) from a screenplay by Phil Lord and Rothman, it stars Shameik Moore as Morales, alongside the voices of Jake Johnson, Hailee Steinfeld, Mahershala Ali, Brian Tyree Henry, Lily Tomlin, Luna Lauren Vélez, John Mulaney, Kimiko Glenn, Nicolas Cage, and Liev Schreiber. The film's story follows Miles Morales as he becomes the new Spider-Man and joins other Spider-People from various parallel universes to save his universe from Kingpin.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse premiered at the Regency Village Theater in Los Angeles on December 1, 2018, and was theatrically released in the United States on December 14, in 2D, 3D, 4DX, Dolby Cinema, and IMAX formats. The film grossed $384.3 million worldwide against a $90 million budget. It received widespread acclaim from critics for its animation, characters, story, voice acting, and humor. The film won Best Animated Feature at the 91st Academy Awards—being the first non-Disney/Pixar film to win the award since Rango when a Disney/Pixar film was also in contention—and was similarly successful at the 76th Golden Globe Awards, the 72nd British Academy Film Awards, and the 46th Annie Awards. Two sequels, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, are set to be released in June 2023 and March 2024, respectively. A spin-off film is also in development.

  • @brynrowe1003
"they should make a TMNT movie with this type of animation" aged beautifully
  • @davidhmmm
"Sometimes I let matches burn down to my fingertips just to feel something, anything." That line had me dead when I first watched this😂😂😂
  • The post credit scene was apparently described by the director as: "The most expensive shitpost ever" And it was worth every penny !
  • 9:10 The reason why nobody hates Miles's Spider-Man it's because he's an original character. He's NOT peter parker with race swap. Miles has his own personality and he earned the mantle of being spidey.
  • Aunt May: "You look tired Peter." Peter B: "It's because I am tired." That's such an underrated line with so much meaning to it. Everytime I hear it I tear up. Bro has been doing his job for 22-23 YEARS and has lost almost EVERYTHING...yet he still keeps being Spiderman.
  • That line Spider-Ham says, "The hardest thing about this job is... you can't always save everybody." Really chokes me up, even to this day. In every single superhero story, someone important to them that they couldn't save (like Uncle Ben, or Gwen Stacy in the spider-Man comics,) is a traumatizing memory that stays with them the most, their driving force to do their very best and try not to let anyone else die. But it's an impossible task, the cruel reality, and a rather mature theme that I'm glad they touched on.
  • The What's Up Danger sequence still chokes me up to this day
  • That scene after Prowler dies, when Miles is tied to the chair, and has no choice but to listen to his dad's speech...maaaan it gets me EVERY TIME!! I'm not close to my own father, so scenes like that...just hit different
  • @ShutEmDownNow
This was the first Marvel movie to be released after Stan Lee's death (about a month later). When Stan says "I'm going to miss him," it just hits you right in the gut.

31:12 That’s because the animators actually accounted for Miles’ hair being under the mask. Since his hair is thick, the mask doesn’t flatten it to his head as much as it does Peter. A cool detail they could’ve easily left out and no one would notice, but makes it all the better since they didn’t
  • @EditDeath
One detail I love about this film that doesn't really get highlighted is Kingpin's design. Most versions of him wear the all white suit, it's his iconic look. Instead, he's here sporting the simple black suit. It's the first clue we have towards his motivation. He's in black because he's mourning. It's not something really put out there to think about, but if you know the character it's all you need to know who he is in this
  • You can tell that Peter B. Parker has just lost so much in life. He’s carried the weight of all that loss for so long that he’s exhausted and doesn’t want to be Spider-Man any more. But he doesn’t know how to move on from it.
  • @ShadowyFox_86
The Spider-Gwen backstory always hits me hard. In her universe, she got bitten instead of Peter. Peter became that universe's Lizard. She ended up killing him (and not knowing it was him until after, if memory serves me right). That's why she doesn't do friends.
  • @trobtx3538
The soundtrack has to be one of the best in any movie ever, their originals and the prowlers theme just match the already top of the line animated visuals..
  • @aaunyea4799
In the theater when Olivia hit us with "And I can't wait to watch" I was immediately simping lol
  • @Wiley_Coyote
This is hands down the best Spider-Man movie ever made. It might even be the best Superhero movie. It's shockingly original, but also shockingly faithful to the source material. A few years before the MCU even attempted it, but far more elegantly, it explored some really tough to explain ideas about the multiverse, but put characterization and good storytelling at the front of things in every case. It's animated, but uses animation in a way never done before--in a way that embraces the visuals of comic books but expands on them too. It's, no BS, a Masterpiece.
  • @ShyheimCinema
One thing you can appreciate with Spider-Man is that anyone can wear the mask, that was the intention that Stan Lee had so people who actually care about spider-man know that their are all kinds characters from different ethnic backgrounds and cultures who wear the mask in different universes.
  • Fun fact: the way this movie is animated is in a way that, no matter what frame you pause on, it will always be a perfect image. All "motion blur" is actually hand crafted frames using old comic/manga techniques to portray motion. It's a VERY unique way of animating and I hope its copied in other films!
  • I'm glad I got to see you get blown away by this movie. No one ever expects it to be THAT good. Halfway through my first watch, I realized this movie was made by people who loved comic books in general and spider-man in particular. You can feel the care they took when making this to get it right.
