Visiting a Squid Fishing Restaurant in Pattaya Thailand where you can try catching squid for your dinner

  • I grew up fishing for squid, and I don't think you're necessarily being set up for success there lol. Squid tend to congregate around rocks and piers. You can find them in open water, of course, but it's tough fishing unless you find a nice seagrass bed to drift over, which it doesn't look like they have there. I also had my greatest success in low light with a lure lamp. Fun experience for you, but I have a sneaking suspicion that their offer to cook the squid for free is a pretty low risk offer on their part haha.

Not related to the food in this video, but I just love how there is this one guy with the One Piece shirt at 0:45 just sitting there casually with the crowd of passengers wearing the life jackets like he has some special perks for being a cultured person
  • That looks like such a unique experience! Though sadly it looks like they've overfished that location. Do you think that since the restaurant is on a boat, they could move to another spot? Maybe the squid have learned to avoid that location!

Just finished a 12 hour nursing shift, exactly what I needed to relax 🥹🥰

Just a small tip! The way you handled your fishing rod, you let your lure sink for a second, then you pulled it up immediately. You can't expect to catch something if you keep moving the bait up and down! The goal is to simulate a small water bug: create enough movement to catch the fish's attention and make them believe it's food, but leave a window where you stay immobile to give them a chance to catch it. It's like playing with a cat!

This looks like such a fun evening out!! Relaxing outside with good food. My parents used to take me fishing all the time. I've never fished specifically for squid but it's a familiar technique. When the guide was showing them how, I was like oh yeah I've got this. Lol Too bad there weren't any squid around to catch. 🐙

the squid's eyes were like staring at me and saying: "how could you!"

This is a genius idea in so many ways, combining a boat ride, a meal at a waterfront restaurant and the chance to catch your own food into 1 is going to attract so many different people who want any or all of those experiences, and all so inexpensively as well.
  • I love how you both never run out of cool places to share with us. Love you girls and your content. <3
  • "A pretty relaxing activity where you can think about life". And you have just realised the whole point of recreational fishing. If you catch any fish, that's just a bonus 🙂

Was that Camera bacons at the end I heard!? Been a while! Fun video! Btw squid are highly intelligent creatures, I wouldn't bank on ever catching on at a place like that lol
  • I was doing some remodel work on the manager's office which was located in the kitchen of a popular Chinese restaurant. I was doing the work while the restaurant was open, but I did it behind the closed door of the office. The manager took me to the steam table and told me I could have as much of anything on it that I wanted if I got hungry. If I wanted anything else it would be 50% off while I was working there. I noticed the kitchen workers always grabbed one or two boiled squid to eat, so I tried it. It was bland, not much flavor. I have eaten fried squid (calamari) and liked it if it wasn't cooked too long and became rubbery. As the job neared it's finish I decided to order a big meal for my crew and let them invite a guest. The Peking Duck and roast pig that I ordered had to be ordered two days in advance. The pig had to come from a supplier in another state and I watched them prepare the Peking Duck. Each morning they'd bring the duck out of the cooler and hang it in the corner of the kitchen with a large pan under it. They'd ladle boiling honey water over it to render the fat and then let it drip in the pan for an hour. They did this all day and then put it back in the cooler. The day of the meal they roasted the duck and the pig and served our two tables with great fanfare. The wives and girlfriends were much impressed and we had been given the VIP room to ourselves. Wine was flowing and everyone was having a great time, but I was getting worried. I just assumed that this meal would be 50% off, but now was thinking I might be looking at a $2,000 dollar meal if I misunderstood. I quietly took the manager aside and asked him straight up, "This meal is just 50%...right?" He gave me a puzzled look and said, "No." My heart sank. He continued, "The meal is free. You did such a great job with my office that the meal is on the house tonight!" I was so relieved, but then he added sternly, "But, next time you pay full price!" and then he winked at me! He was a cool dude!
