  • Malta Air also operates the Ryanair bases in France, Germany, Vienna, Denmark and Sweden. Buzz has bases in Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Slovakia, Bulgaria and Vienna. Lauda has bases in Vienna, London Stansted, and Palma De Mallorca. Vienna has 3 AOCs operating purely due to tax evasion (Crew can only be based there for 6 months before they get a different base, to stay under the 180 day rule)

Buzz was originally a UK budget airline owned by KLM that Ryanair acquired in 2003

    1) Lauda's history goes way further, and Ryanair are cashing in on the name. Niki had other airlines previously and pushed for aircraft safety. 2) It was charitable of you not to push harder on Buzz. "We set up a new airline just to have workers with worst conditions" merits more than a passing mention.

Buzz currently have a fleet 64 aircraft of which only 8 aircraft are in the Buzz livery all the rest are in Ryanair livery. Malta Air currently have a fleet of 161 aircraft with only 6 aircraft in Malta Air livery all the rest are in Ryanair livery.

A very insightful video on RyanAir. I like seeing how one corporation branches off into multiple subsidiaries. Whether it be airplane transportation, media outlets, fast food chains, etc, how multiple identities fall under one umbrella never ceases to intrigue me.

Another day, another video where TLDR include the Alitalia logo despite the company dissolving and being restarted as ITA
  • @alfrredd
I flew from Madrid to Palma de Mallorca a few months ago and the plane had a Lauda livery, seemed weird, now it makes a bit more sense.
  • I work for Buzz from Cracow and I can't complain about my company 😂
  • @136ctrh
Easyjet Switzerland has nothing to do with Brexit. It was formed many years before and is actually only 40 ish percent owned by Easyjet.
  • @digojez
very informative, I didn't know Ryan Group is that wide spread
  • @Blueberry0856
I live in Austria and Lauda is now the mein Spot at Vienna Internaltional because if you fly with Ryanair from Vienna there is a high chance that you fly with Lauda
  • 6:10 The Laudamotion part is wrong. Niki Lauda bought the Assets of AeroLloyd Austria in 2003 and rebranded the Airline as Niki/FlyNiki. Later Niki was Part of Air Berlin. When they filed for bankrupcy, Niki Lauda bought back Niki and later Ryanair got involved. 😊
  • @Rantasalmi47
fun fact about buzz: the polish airline can technically be traced back to the UK, as the airline tecnically began as airUK, the airline then got bought by KLM rebranding as KLM uk, KLM uk then launched a subsidiary called BUZZ, BUZZ then got bought by Ryanair, but ceased operations, then Ryanair brought the airline back rebranding Ryanair sun as BUZZ.
  • Lauda's history, including that of Niki Lauda's other former airlines, merits its own video.
  • EasyJet Switzerland is a long running subsidiary, not because of Brexit but because of Switzerland not being a member of the EU and therefore EasyJet being unable to base UK registered aircraft there

  • @LWR1
Lauda is interesting as my sister recently took one (under Ryanair of course) from LDN Stansted to Copenhagen. Great video!
  • Bit wrong about Lauda bases there is Vienna, London Stansted, Palma and Zagreb and also Zadar during summer. Dusseeldorf closed while ago
  • @jupiter_bus
I remember flying a Buzz and a Lauda plane ;)
