Regardless of the water hypothesis in regards to the sphinx, I definitely believe the possibility of that not being the original head and that it once had the head of Anubis and there's quite a bit to back that theory up, too. The ancient Egyptians were all about symmetry so it's just really odd to me that the sphinx would be so insanely out of proportion. I personally believe that there was a larger head, regardless, and that what we see today was not how it was originally, even if wasn't Anubis. As I said, there's actually quite a bit supporting that theory so I don't feel too crazy for believing it.

I often wondered if the Sphinx used to be surrounded by fountain water with the sphinx being on the center island...still popular today. I remember being in grade school and asking why was there a dugout surrounding the sphinx?

As a question on the Sphinx... can those proposing this erosion theory explain why a civilization would build a large statue in a spot that flooded regularly? I mean, seems to me that that is a question that'd need to be explained in order to counter simple erosion from sand and wind...

Im assuming the sphinx nose is gone because the sphinx was built on a lie that was later revealed. Im assuming the previous head was a lion
