Published 2024-07-27
With recent events happening around Moab lately we wanted to address some things that people often over look in the desert. We want everyone to be able to enjoy the beautiful place we live but we definitely want you all to be safe. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

  • I could have sworn in an older video Rory said he does NOT ride motorcycles. Doe not like to ride motorcycles. Well, For someone who doesn't ride you did a damn fine job on this one. A heavy "Cross country" touring bike, they are hard to handle in rocks but sand is a whole nuther' level. Good job on the bike recovery and excellent job on the PSA!!!

I bring GALLONS of water...even for just a quick trip. Bottles, jugs, etc. I've saved multiple bikers and other wheelers over the years just by having "too much" water.
  • RORY, MIKE & SHAWN: such beautiful and caring hearts surrounded with humor & JOY!!
  • @KarelRode
"It's got electrolytes, what plants crave"! So aligned with that comment. I do recall it comes from that future docu-drama called Idiocracy. That one is so spot on with the happenings in the USA.

The remoteness of this beautiful landscape is what makes it so amazing. It can also be life threatening if you don't respect it & come prepared. Thanks for taking the time to remind us all of the dangers. Great message 👍 Be safe out there!

As a resident Moabite.... THANKS RORY (& SHAWN & MIKE) The tourorists (and no shortage of locals, either) NEED this sort of PSA!
  • @marvicty
Rory and Mike are barefooting it while Shawn always sporting them boots. You guys are AWESOME!!!!
  • You guys are a great bunch of people. The public is lucky to have your services available to them.

The first few times I told my wife to bring one of those collapsible umbrellas on a hiking trip she laughed. But when she needed the shade she was glad we brought it. Also glad we had plenty of water. She is now water wise and brings that silly umbrella. Thanks for sharing.

Always carry enough water for yourselves & even extra for others especially in summer! My husband & I spend a month in Moab every winter & I always stock the jeep with all the water, food, tools & gear we may need
  • @donlum9128
Glad he made it out. Out in the WILD WILD WEST Whiskey is for drinking, Water is for fighting over!
  • @Kevin-ti3rz
Living in the desert I put a few gallons of water behind my seat in my truck . Just in case I came across some with a flat on the side of the road.
  • @boboda7
    Good morning trailmater crew
  • @DonAshcraft
Nice subtle mention of the movie Idiocracy! "It's got electrolytes. Plants love it. 😅😂"
  • Rory's version of PSA = Pals Sitting Around! Having a B.S. about being safe out there. Words of wisdom from the Desert Guru, the Road Runner & the Trusty Sidekick.
  • @Derf1313
Great PSA !! As an old Boy Scout I've lived the "Be Prepared". But as a builder (& travels to BFE and back, lol.) I've found that " Over Prepared" makes much more sense !! We all appreciate what you're explaining, for folks to be safer, & enjoy their adventure! & we get chuckles and spectacular scenery... Thanx !
  • @tacder1
Love the PSA. So important to bring water. Water for you , your animals and your vehicles. Water the stuff of life
  • @daverakoci9506
You are 100% Rory. My girlfriend & I did the White Rim in a Jeep from Jenn's Jeeps last July and we took way too much water. It was definitely a good thing to not need it all. But if we had needed it we would of had it. The 2nd day we literally did not see a single other human. The vast remoteness of these areas can't be overstated. Stay safe out there...
