Fertilizing the lawn when it is hot out - will that burn it? Can you burn a lawn with fertilizer in heat? FREEDOM is an excellent fert for all grass types in summer:

Following the recommended rate of 3lbs/1000. (spreader settings are on the bag) you are giving your lawn a cool 1/2 lb of N which is going to give you a nice green but not overly push anything.

If your lawn is under more severe stress, then Stress Blend is an excellent option as well:

  • What a preposterous bunch of nonsense. You seriously think I'm going to believe advertisers, packaging, and a fertilizer salesmen dressed up as a Youtuber over SCIENCE? "I've read dozens of fertilizer labels." How many scientific papers about turfgrass have you read? How many have you read about fertilizing in the summer?

Can't tell you how much I appreciate your thorough yet easy to understand videos.

I really appreciate you categorizing warm-weather vs cool-weather lawns with all of your statements. I learned a LOT from this video... subscribed!

I live in the south where temps reach the upper 90's. As a golfer I see golf courses in my area fertilizing during the summer months and the courses look beautiful with no burning.

I am so glad I found your channel when I decided to jump into doing my own lawn care. I’m constantly learning from your channel. Thank you. Hopefully one day I’ll have the honor to meet you in person.
  • Alan I’m still a newbie as I’ve been following you for the past two years, however my grass is improving and I enjoy beer and cigars even more. Keep up the great work we need it!

Been using the LCN system (bios & Flagship) for about 2 months now, can honestly say my Tif419 has never looked better in the 15 years since I put it down as sod. Still using a lawn care service but “throwin’ it down” between the “paid” visits. Thanks Allyn! 👍

  • You guys have it so easy ! In Middle East we fertilise no problem 100, 120, 130 degrees. This time of year it doesn’t ever go below 110.

Excellent info :) we're super restricted here with irrigation, only get to water our lawns once a week up here in Ontario and within specified times during that day. However I'm back to fertilizing and doing what I can to keep it nice for my boys, Keep up the great content.

Great video Allyn always full of knowledgeable content because of you my lawn is turning around have a long way to go but I can see a difference year to year
  • I’ve just started a renovation on the lawn, there was too many different grass types, just looked bad and was not consistent in colour even when fertilised so I’m digging it over, levelling it and some decent grass seed and with a bit of luck, I will have a lawn to be proud of. BTW your videos are the best way to end the week.
  • Another fine LCN video. 👍👍 For us cool season lawn types we’re checking out right now and will be going into Summer dormancy. Definitely will be sucking up Nitro when we can. ❤️ that nitro.
  • @eslymuniz4592
Great explanation and knowledge gain. I am a new home owner and added new sod and this video explained everything I needed to know to get started. Thank you very much!

That grass is absolutely THICC!!! I'm in the Houston area and have been reworking the soil for 2 years to get better roots but I have another year or two to anywhere close to that dense of grass!!!
  • @LawnJourneys
Good points. I’m irrigated and getting the summer stress blend down this weekend. Loved results last season.
