Morning routine in the real world: wake up. Go to work in the dark.

Instructions unclear: I came to work in the afternoon and got fired...

I recall my grandparents lifestyle living in rural area. They got up every morning at 5 a'clock, drunk some fresh water(had a fountain), washed face with cold water and then going to feed the livestock, doing gardening and what else around the house. They usually had their first meal around noon time, and of course coffee was not a part of their diet! They were slim and fit till the end. Miss them a lot!

"By 1:30pm I'm fully awake and ready to head to the office"

I did something like this in college, but with the workout first. It's too hard to do this on your own all at once... you have to add in habits one at a time. Took me 3 years to get there, but don't give up. It makes you feel human again

Might as well throw in 10-20 minute meditation if we’re talking everything for optimal brain health routine

I also wake up around 6:30, write down the time, then fall back asleep with the pen in my hand only to wake up at 9 am with ink on my face and realizing I am late for my daily team meeting, which I then attend at my computer only dressed from the waist up.

My 93 year old grandma calls this "earn your coffee"

My bladder wakes me up between 3am & 4am. I pee and go back to bed. If I don’t fall back asleep I make coffee and get on my computer. Then I go back to bed at around 5:30am and fall asleep. I’m retired

Everybody has their own routine when they wake up. My main routine is prayer.

This routine changed my life. Day one went like this: 6:45am- Naturally wake up (no alarm) and hydrate 7:00- 15 min outdoor walk 7:30- At the gym, 1hr work out 8:30 - Cold plunge 9 - Get to work, explain to my foreman why I'm 2 hours late to the job site. 9:10- Take my coffee break, again, explain to the crew why I'm not doing anything. Delayed caffeine intake is optimal! 9:20- Do 90 min of mindful work with meditation time throughout. No one is happy about that. 11- Take my lunch break, it's an hour before everyone else but I'm optimizing. Noon - Begin my post lunch deep rest. At this point the foreman fired me. I continued this routine with my next 3 jobs. I have been unemployed and homeless for 6 months now and I'm writing this under a bridge in my cardboard box. I'm the most optimal and mindful man in my encampment.
  • Tried this when I have a household to run and a small kid who need to be prepped and dropped to school before I get ready for work. Estimated wake up time needed to be advanced to 3:45 AM for me. Being able to have a morning routine like this is wonderful but it's a privilege for a few and it would be great if the prof acknowledged that.

He forgot Step1: Get a big fat research grant. Step 2: Quit your job so you'll have time to do this during the day.
  • I also do similar routine. 1) wake up 7 am, go for a walk and drink water. 2) coffee around 830 at work. However I find sometimes I get caught checking my phone too early so my mind is not longer so focused. 3) exercise wise - I wonder if it’s better to do it in the morning first thing or late in the afternoon when our minds are tired.

Someone in my river trail mentioned you today. He was soaking in river water and I talked to him about it. I am enjoying your videos and I just started watching. God bless you
