I love that she is slowly evolving the look of The Creature throughout the music videos, in DEATH and VOID she still had a mostly human body, she started out with no legs in DEATH, then in VOID she had legs, then in TUNNEL VISION her skin became textured rather than smooth like previously, and in FAERIE SOIRÉE she had wings and went into the flower at the end so she will likely be even more changed when it blooms in LIGHT SHOWER 🧚🏼‍♀️💗

i’m going to edit my comment because a few people seem to misinterpret it or not understand, i don’t mean to sound incoherent lollll. (or snippy) as i said before, i like to analyze her music videos, Melanie is really artistic and uses a lot of metaphorical lyrics and imagery, she uses a lot of alliterations in her songs indicating a deeper meaning. naturally tall flowers close up protecting itself, it is a process called nyctinasty, its "going to sleep." quoting from Melanie Martinez’s summary on her story she explains “sitting on the roof of my garage, imagining what it would feel like while the warmth of the sun was hitting me. A few weeks later I sat in my bathtub with my guitar and stayed up all night writing a love song about this light,” in the music video, she climbs up a huge flower allowing the warmth to hit her, as she falls asleep the flower covers her leaving her in darkness. she also said "There is a place in the afterlife people under hypnosis describe as a soul cleansing or a shower of light. A place where gem-colored rays of light shine through every inch of your soul." putting it altogether, she is going to a dark place but is protected and it will be filled with light. Many plants close up at night, usually to protect pollen or reduce water loss while the leaves aren't photosynthesising.

I love how creative she is like who would think of a music video and create this? She’s so talented.
