Blood Business: How the Plasma Industry Works | FD Finance

Watch' Lords of Water' here:    • Blue Gold: How to Earn BILLIONS of Do...

Plasma, a highly sought-after component of blood, costs more per liter than petrol. Used by pharmaceutical companies to create expensive medications, this precious liquid has become a lucrative commodity. The film investigates one of the largest corporations in this flourishing market, with profits soaring over a billion euros. Their donation centers are mostly found in poor neighborhoods in the U.S., and they pay donors for their blood, a practice forbidden in Europe. For impoverished Americans, blood donations have become a source of income- presenting a real risk to their health, as they lie about their health conditions and donate repeatedly to make ends meet. Other donors give their blood in the hope of helping others- but the reality of where their donations actually go can be somewhat different. We investigate the global trade in blood and plasma donations.

I just moved from New England to Georgia and this company is all over the city I live in. It’s definitely predatory. But to pay them so little is truly insane!! 😢

You are not supposed to donate more than once every 8 weeks. This is dangerous for these people.
  • @Desperado070
They get blood from the USA which is unpaid. But the small problem is there doesn't exist unpaid donated blood in the whole USA.
  • Giving blood should not be free especially when there is no war. It became a business. Donor gave it for free but blood bank sell it

By donating blood you are also donating you DNA something they don't mention to you. Your blood represents your life it only belongs to you.

This is such a difficult topic, specifically finding a solution. Obviously you don't want to shut it down, but even doing something as simple as setting q floor for prices could cause them to just leave, and now those people are screwed over. So the question remains.
  • I also go to csl in Colorado amd have gine in Phoenix and Bakersfield as well. All had armed guards. all were in low income areas. None pay what they should amd every location sets its own pay scale. Just to give a second opinion.

The narrator could not have been more right when he said, "The blood of the poor going into the veins of the rich." The poor have always been exploied by the rich. That is why it is no accident institutionalized structures are in place.
