  • So glad someone made a video on this. In terms of Hip Hop, the Soundcloud Era marks the start of Gen Z officially entering the Rap Game.
  • @AwesomeTyler24
This guy gets the whole vibe of those times, perfect explanation. Being a high school student in this era was unmatched
  • @big.kool.
Ngl we are never gonna get an era like this ever again, especially since almost everyone who blew up from SoundCloud either fell off, moved on, or died, and hewer underground waves like the current one rn just doesn't hit the same, and in 2023 being the most barren year in rap, just feels like something is missing
  • @HaikesXO
It’s hard for kids today to understand how impactful XXX was. I was 24 in 2018 but he still made a big impact in my life. 2015-2019 was a vibe ..
  • @MetalSonic420
The 2016 XXL Freshman Cypher is forever legendary.
  • @addison7105
I found X when I was 13, dude changed my life. There’s not a single day that goes by that I don’t miss him. I miss the whole SoundCloud era, those were some great times with the best music. The raw organic creativity from that era can’t be matched these days.
  • @bsg_damo
i was a very troubled kid man and x’s story and music resonated in me. felt like i lost a life long friends when he died. that’s when soundcloud died for me
  • @lilchaos4792
I'm 31 and I gotta say X was BY FAR the most gifted and talented SoundCloud artist of that era. And not just Soundcloud, he was one of the greatest artist of all time. Period. That kid was seriously special.
  • @blacktide888
I’m 35, and I can tell you as a huge HipHop fan, this era was one of the most creative and defining eras in HipHop for real. My personal favorite artist from this era is definitely XXXtentacion. That dude was incredible.
  • @Kingholloween
2016 - 2019 felt so unreal, I felt like I was living in a movie at times 😢 I hope we can have another era or couple years like these
  • @muen6949
This video gave me a tight feeling in my stomach cause it made me realize most the artists that led this era are either dead or irrelevant. And it all happened in less than 3 years. It’s a shame cause people used to shit on X but I think he had a lot more to offer not only to music but as a positive influence to the youth.
  • Great coverage, Soundcloud era really died with Juice WRLD to be honest, it was on the way out of being mainstream/culturally relevant as all the underground guys started to get deals/the corporate side of the industry saw the potential and stuck there fingers in the pie. But really the nail in the coffin was when Juice died.
  • @rredkermit9063
Peep, Juice and X were my 3 favourite artists growing up as a teenager. Can’t believe we lost all 3 of them.
  • @maxypad3379
i miss x and juice. 2 of the most versatile and talented rappers that only got a few years to make their mark. both would’ve been legends.
  • @rashad5010
You hit the mark with this. This is a straight up documentary for the culture. Much love for this one! 2016 was really revolutionary.
  • @BenDoverthe3rd
What makes me so mad is all the old heads tried to bully these guys into making the same type of rap without exploring a new sound, and now that the sound cloud rap era is gone, rap is boring and overly polished. These guys were pioneers of their time and made some of the best music without major labels, just passion and a dream.
  • Im foreever grateful we got the chance to experience the soundcloud era. personally my favorite music era. you knocked it out of the park with this video, thank you. rest in peace to these legends
  • @JayTheGam3rCOD
Literally miss this era every day. I was in college, young, care free with my friends. My life is good now but the emotions of this time haven’t been repeated yet
  • @stealthassassn
That X recap made me wanna cry. This is a certified hood classic
  • If X, Juice, and Peep were still alive, the rap game would be a lot different. X and Juice would’ve been selling records like crazy and Peep would’ve been doing arenas like Suicide Boys.
