  • I was living in Ponsonby in 1998, then to Grey Lynn. Such wonderful carefree times ❤
  • I am a PR and also a student in Auckland uni, which does not sit far from the intersection between Wellesley and Queen Street in 0:41. I was really expecting some major differences from now when I clicked into this video, but turns out the the buildings, the ASB Bank, the traffic lights, even the white line for crossing stayed the same. I expect this to stay the same for the next 10 years.
  • Awesome video, good memories. Mid city was full on good memories
  • Wow wish there were other videos of Auckland in the 90’s…this seems to be the only one? Love seeing it. I was only 6 in 1998 but I miss this time of my life. 90’s were a great decade….
  • Wow. The first time I went to Auckland was in July 1998, I was 16. Now I'm 39 and will be 40 next year, geezus.
  • Farout queen st looks like theirs hardly any traffic. Today traffic on queen st is around 10 to 13mins to get thru on a good day, bad day 20mins lol Sky tower I'm yet to go up 👌🏽

98 was one of if not the last of the good years imo. Then the internet became widely used, smartphones happened, social media happened, terrorism happened, music became atrocious and people became self absorbed wankers who are so desperate to advertise their lives to the world on a daily basis... People were much more real and not so materialistic back then, especially New Zealanders. Miss that time.
  • I was seven years old at that time. This was a year before my younger sister was born. Good times.
  • wow thanks for this... .brought me right back there 😀
  • just like i remember it as a kid 😍 used to get a view of the skytower and cbd out of my bedroom window in sunnynook live down in napier now could never go back too busy 😥
  • The Auckland Airport looked way better in the 90's - such a shame where it has gone. People used to travel to go to airport as a destination without even having anyone travelling it was so good. Now it's a hole.
  • @1sexy30
I was 8 years old liveing in christchurch new Zealand.

The final part shows what the airport gates looked before the pier separation divided it into separate arrivals and departures. They should have built an arrivals pier separately to the airport's northwest. This could have been done during the airport's 1994 to 1998 upgrade.
  • First visited Auckland in 1998 coming up to see my Dad, coming from Stratford it was so new and big. Was 24 years ago but really does not seem that long ago at all, can still remember going into Real Groovy for the first time
