Response to Braxton Hunter, Part III. Question 5: When The Penny Drops

Published 2020-12-30
Management suggests having a penny handy while viewing this video.

This is Part III of my response to Dr. Braxton Hunter’s list of 10 Questions For Atheists, and answers question 5. Part IV will address questions 6, 7, 8, and 9. Part V will address question 10 and wrap it all up. Each will run 15-20 mins in length. –ish.

Part I can be found here:    • Response to Braxton Hunter, Part I: I...
Part II can be found here:    • Response to Braxton Hunter, Part II: ...

My responses to these 10 questions are broken up into multiple videos, because to answer all of these in one shot would require a video of enormous length, and, being as this is a femtochannel, no one would ever see my responses, particularly those near the middle and end of his list. Therefore, in playing the YouTube game, I'm compelled to make several releases.

Question 5 asks if it does not destabilize the atheist to consider the origins of the universe without a god concept. Sadly, Braxton failed to edit out a couple of strawmen in his presentation of the question, and seems to think that "Before The Big Bang" is coherent.

So... this takes a bit. Sorry. Not really.

A scrape of a penny a wall??? Ha, you had me snorting and rolling!!!
  • Just subscribed. I'm actually coming to you from "beyond space and time," and I can assure you that God is real. I had a Martini with him about an hour ago (from your perspective). Obviously, from our perspective, he and I were always enjoying that Martini, in one timeless and eternal "NOW" :)

If I step away from the 'debate mode' for that question I'm waling away because he doesn't seem to be asking a good faith question. Also, all the attempts to circumvent the problem of the origin of the universe. Um, the scientific field of cosmogony isn't a desperate attempt to circumvent that gap in our knowledge, it's a direct attempt to learn more. But hey, we haven't solved it in the few decades we've been working on it, so I guess a deity is more likely?
