I don't blame Alex for the consequences that Ned has had to deal with because of the affair. However, she is still responsible for the pain she caused to her own partner. I acknowledge the power imbalance in hers and Ned's affair but she should have known the pain it would cause for her fiance.
  • I think some of the hate that Alex is getting has to do with just how involved Ariel has been with this company. She's not some obscure "wife at home." These two interacted with some degree of regularity. Alex was also directly involved in videos in which the premise was for Ariel to share her deep insecurities about herself. To listen to this woman talk about the things about herself that make her physically insecure, and then sleep with that woman's husband is just so gross on Alex's part.

Quick note about how the Try Guys were able to keep their name after leaving: In one of BuzzFeed's articles about the Ned scandal, they disclosed that BuzzFeed is a shareholder and has a financial stake in Second Try LLC.

Would love to hear your “evolution of” insight into the vlogbrothers, John and Hank Green. The amount of content they’ve been able to put out, and the growth they’ve had is incredible. 🤞
  • Hard disagree that Alex isn't at fault. She's a grown adult and made the decision to cheat on her fiance. It's not like she was some poor fresh faced intern; she was featured a fair amount on the channel and had a good position in the company. Obviously that doesn't excuse Ned abusing a position of power to have an affair with an employee or the public backlash she's getting, but she's not faultless in this scenario; the world isn't as black and white as that.
  • You calling Shane Dawson’s content “documentary-esque vlog things” has me rolling and simultaneously heavily nodding in agreement.

Taylor releasing midnights 🤝 Hannah posting an evolution of video: my serotonin 📈
  • @literallylaly
I beg to differ on Alex being exempt from receiving hate. She knew exactly who Ariel was when she started having an affair with Ned, her husband. Alex was also in a long term relationship herself. She’s a shitty person for cheating on her partner with a married man whose wife she also worked with.
  • @elijolesy
I think the reason everyone loved them from the beginning is because they’ve always been transparent, always been open and genuinely, and always truly loved each other as friends and almost brothers. And the way they handled everything just reinforced that.
  • @kittycattt93
Ned's whole personality being his wife just shows he had little to give personality wise lmao
  • @sofcarolq
Hannah not to be ironic bringing up our own parasocial relationships but I got emotional seeing you uploaded 😭 I legit missed you. I would absolutely love a "rise and fall" of buzzfeed video I think their approach to making a brand to produce content is fascinating
  • @not_them
I do assign blame to the mistress. She hurt her own partner and the way she produced videos where Ariel was open about insecurities just makes me feel very uncomfortable. However, Ned's actions extend a lot further and he deserves more blow back.
  • @skynight4620
Alex is a grown woman who actively knew she was not only hurting Ned’s wife and kids but also her fiancé. While Ned deserves most of the blame, Alex should also be held accountable for her actions
  • @megshep
I'm so incredibly happy to see you back 💕 I'll comment something relevant to the video after I've finished it but...just know you've got a bunch of love and support from the Glowsticks here.
  • @cassf7386
I’ll be honest, Alex is a full grown adult. She doesn’t need to be babied because she knowingly had an affair with a guy with a wife and kids and she herself had a fiancé. She’s a bad person and hurt so many people with her actions. Neds terrible don’t get me wrong and his hate is justified but hers is too.

Something to note here that I only recently discovered from SWOOP’S video: Alex was a fan of the try guys when working at BuzzFeed and there was an implication from her comments that people under the main talent do not speak to the people higher up in the company. They took Alex with them when they left BuzzFeed and I find it hard to believe that that dynamic still wasn’t a thing or at least present in her mind, on top of being a literal fan. It puts more of an icky feeling to the relationship
  • @Ashbrash1998
I am SO GLAD that you actually mentioned how integral the guys' partners are to the brand. Most of the other videos barely even mention them at all and ignore the fact that they do work for the company as well, and just label them as the partner.
