  • That takes me right back to my childhood over 40 years ago. We had exactly the same thing at the top of the stairs, no central heating :)
  • I have one of these and a Valor - reconditioned both - and they work well. However, learnt of the 'space age' Inverter paraffin heaters. After much searching, finally found a supplier and bought one. They're Japanese made and although very sophisticated come with a 4 year guarantee. Essentially, you just press a button and out comes fan assisted hot air, up to 4kW on my model - you can get bigger ones. Still keeping my old ones; the Inverter does need a mains electric plug to work its CO sensor and ignition apparatus.

You don't want to toss water on a kerosene fire. Use flour or cornmeal or something to smother it as soon as possible. Water will just cause it to spread and the kero will ride on top of the water.

The 37 is ex MOD issue. It still has the crows foot on it.

Very nice heater. I have an Aladdin model 37 also, and just like yours the wick is stiff going up and down. Real nice to have a heater when you have to work out in the garage or what have you. Good vid. Best wishes from Canada.

The danger is in lack of O2 and excess of CO2. Carbon monoxide is not an issue with blue flames because the blue in the fire indicates carbon monoxide has been eliminated

I have an aladdinette for my greenhouse. But after an alcohol washout, it's now my living room heater but with bioethanol in it. It's clean burning and can be used safely indoors. It works great and is miles cheaper than putting the gas heating on. No way I'm doing that this year.

Nice Tutorial. Good luck with the new addition!

I have one exactly like that one, with cleaning and a new wick it works great.

No true! I got mine from ebay 3 years ago and still working perfectly!

Wow, never heard of that 'in-between' size. That would really come in handy sometimes. I have 2 Aladdin, and several Perfection heaters. This size looks perfect for a trailer camper...

Hi. I just started looking around for an Aladdinette Heater model no. 2902 from the 60's. Doesn't matter if it's operational. Have you seen any around?
  • @nunyabizness199
If you can find Aladdin "pink" paraffin, keep the container collectors would love to have them...😉
  • Where did you get your metal wick trimmer? The modern plastic ones just don't cut it. Literally. My Aladdinette burns just like yours, uneven at the back, and the plastic wick trimmer can't fix it, even when I let the wick dry out first, as the experts recommend. Lovely heater otherwise.

I do like the heat these things put out but I light and extinguish them out doors..otherwise the smell is unpleasant
