I Tested TIKTOK SHOP vs AMAZON identical products

That TikTok dress looked cheap. I wouldn’t have worn that one out. The Amazon dress was definitely the win on that one.

Sorry. Don’t agree with the even score for the glitter dress. The pink TikTok dress is and looks poor quality. It may be useful as a Halloween costume.

With the curling iron I don’t think it was really fair because you used two different attachments. You should’ve used the same one on each side.

Fun fact, formaldehyde is commonly used to treat and preserve new clothes. Same as what the mortician will use to preserve Nanna. Always wash before wearing 😬 ❤

I like how you changed the light of your hallway to pink for the products from TikTok and changed it to blue for the Amazon products. It's a really nice touch! :)

The quality of both of the first dresses is so different; honestly they both are pretty but the fabric and stitching of the blue is so much better than the pink. I would rather pay for the Amazon dress if I knew there would be such a big quality difference between the two dresses

As someone who worked at Amazon, I can tell you these are just bulk-produced items that got sent to any big company willing to handle them. The ones missing stuff or without proper packaging were most likely customer returned items that were sent back to the originally seller to do with whatever they deemed. A lot of sellers will simply resell them "as is" whereas Amazon itself goes through a damage/return process. A lot of the time sellers will dump their products at warehouses and refuse to handle any returns or damages or even refuse to take them back (I've seen products sit for 9+ months), but usually Amazon will gather returned or damaged items and ship them back to the seller if there are issues. It's a headache with drop-shipped and mass produced items tbh. An incredible waste of everyone's time, money, and energy imo.

The Amazon curler should get the point. It just looks better and it didn’t even bother with the wand that doesn’t do anything. I also think the Amazon mirror looked better.

I’m sorry but the fact that hope was so surprised with the “shipping cost more than the item” is so funny to me as a Canadian cuz that’s literally everything all the time for us. $5 dollar product? $15-20 shipping and then customs on top of that!

Okay, nitpicky, but the scientist in me is upset: The phone charger test wasn’t really fair. What are the relative strengths of the batteries in the different phones? Had one been dead longer than the other?

Am I the only one who was skeptical on the charger results? Batteries wear down differently, so using two different phones isn't exactly fair. 😭 I would've preferred seeing the same phone for both and timed, though I know it'd take longer to test those products.

That blue Amazon dress was way better on you, it cinched your waist and the top was way prettier. The pink one looked loose and ill fitting. I don't like Tik Tok, way too old for it (i'm 60), i prefer Amazon hands down. Love your videos Hope, your amazing!

I don't think the curling iron is the fairest test when you use two different barrel types, especially since you are far more experienced with the straight barrel than the bubble style barrel that you've struggled with before. I appreciate all the hard work you and your team put into these videos, though.

didn't really agree with the points. if one product is $50 and the other is $25, but I don't enjoy what I get for the $25, that is 25 wasted. not 25 saved in my opinion.

As a user of digital cameras , that extra battery comes in handy! I don't bring my camera anywhere without have at least 2 extra, charged batteries with me.

Something to consider, since Amazon is guilty of this, too, is that when businesses like these try to get a hold on the market, they will lower their prices for the same products to try and get people into their service over the ones they already know and drive other online retailers out of business, so I definitely wouldn't put it past TT. Amazon famously has done this for medication and books, and once they got what is essentially the monopoly on the online store/shipping market, the prices went waay back up, and now they can charge whatever they want since it's one of the only places you can get stuff online.
