Does Assassin's Creed Mirage Understand Assassin's Creed?

Alright, we got a generous 7 minute Assassin's Creed Mirage gameplay demo, is it the best thing since sliced bread? Discuss. My mind has a certain duality to it, I can register and appreciate the face value Assassin elements, but I also still have many reservations. I can only hope I articulate that semi-well today.

This game is not about the fantasy of being an assassin anymore, it’s about the fantasy of playing a real assassins creed game

I like and really appreciate that they attempt to make an actual Assassin's Creed (as weird as it might sound because it should be the bare minimum). But what is the point of returning to the roots if they just do it for one game? That's the only real thing that really bugs me about this game. Plus the fact that he is teleporting during that Assassin focus ability, I think that Assassin Creed Mirage understands Assassins Creed or it at least tries to. The Story-Trailer looks promising and I genuinely like the direction they are heading with the story showing us Basims internal struggles and dealing with the creed and it's hipocrisies.

Honestly a big issue with valhalla is how non functional stealth was. Hopefully they fixed that in mirage (considering is the same engine and all). That's the most important thing to me!

I know that Mirage will not be Peak AC or anything but I can see that there is a genuine attempt to go back to the roots and thats a step in the right direction in my book. So I'm being cautious but a bit more optimistic about it.

Game looks good. I'm tired of ignoring fun games because everyone hates on it. I love history, I love this series. I'm definitely playing it

Let's not forget that right after this return-to-form game, we're getting two massive open world valhallha style RPG assassin's creed games

For Assassin's Focus, I think we should give Ubisoft Bordeaux critical, but positive feedback to make it like the Fear Takedowns from the Arkham series. We should also urge them to add features like manual ejects and manual jumps. If we make a shout loud enough then Ubisoft Bordeaux surely will add these features on release or on a future game pass. It's all about how we go about these things. We as the fanbase and community of Assassin's Creed should influence the game that's being made for us, and the team at Bordeaux seems to be a part of this community, but we will have to make a splash to get their attention. I'd try to do something, a sort of a campaign, but I cannot because my influence is not nearly as big enough as other AC influencers, but I can leave this statement here so that someone may act, which might lead to a domino effect.

Mirage may not completely understand Assassin's Creed, but it's definitely a step in the right direction compared to Valhalla and Odyssey. As you said, Mirage's biggest hurtle is that it's a game trying to recapture what made the original games so great while running on the engine that more or less ruined the franchise. I truly think the future of the franchise actually hinges on this game. Not the future of the franchise's continuation, but rather its identity. I have always believed that Assassin's Creed can succeed as an RPG, but it has to be done correctly. I think Egypt was the biggest map an Assassin's Creed game should have ever had. It had 3 major cities with enough in between to keep things interesting in terms of movement and exploration. Odyssey and Valhalla had too much space in between cities, and anything that filled that space was too small. It was small villages with little to no verticality, or caves, or some kind of outpost with no real reason for being there other than to to exist as something to do. While the southern most part of Origins' map was literally just barren desert, everything north of that felt deliberately placed to offer something meaningful. If Mirage does well, it will likely inform a lot about how Codename Red and Codename Hexe are executed. They run on a new engine, so if this does well, that engine may be refined to execute some of Mirage's idea more effectively.

I’m not blown away with the gameplay but the level design and the way you can interact with the world to complete objectives takes me back to older ac games. And I think that’s a step in the right direction
  • @funkykrunc6857
I promise all of you AC Red is currently getting 10x the support and funding than the team of AC Mirage is getting. It's sad. But im proud of what efforts were made in the detection system and world design.

I don't think this is "return the the roots"...i see it as one last time, one last hurrah, poor final goodbye to everything that was good with Assassin's Creed. It seems like Mirage exists in its own bubble as extension to Valhalla in a way. Codename Jade was also just announced (mobile thing) with flashy magical combat moves and weapons it seems - definitely already far off the "roots". Next big one in line is Japan ( i guess) one we seen tiny teaser and i imagine a massive game, a child of Odyssey and Valhalla that took steroids at some point. It will be marketed yet again as "being a ninja, or being a samurai" instead of being an assassin in AC game. To go to the roots they need to sorta reset everything, all the things and pieces of the story so far, put on table and make a trilogy games around that, new characters, new setting, rebuild from ground up using good story pieces of the past...everything needs to be build around only that so that you have again strong foundation for future games to connect too.

The AC and RDR goat uploads once again

My thoughts on the marksmen shooting the eagle could be explained by way of Basim's story based notoriety. He compromises the creed, and therefore himself, and his eagle also becomes a target. The bird mechanic makes no sense at all, but we don't see his bird in Valhalla, so having him be shot down towards the end of the main story would make perfect sense, and then it would be a really good way for Ubisoft to get rid of the birds altogether. Yes we loved Senu, but we loved her because we loved Bayek, not because she made for a good game mechanic that made any sense whatsoever apart from "bird drone"
  • @naturalfitness23
I think what old school AC fans really wanted is a true next gen build from the ground up AC game. That took inspiration from unity. Mirage seems to be a baby step in the right direction but not what we truly wanted.
  • @rafaoliva5451
I love how at 1:38 one of the guards politely waits for Roshan to kick him of the ledge 😂
  • @abdullahcomam
Always a good day when Fizhy uploads, been watching you since 2016
  • @Fieryxjoe
On the filter. I think it is a simple attempt to add replayability along with more fleshed out black box missions. The things Ubi will judge this game on are playtime, completion%, player retention. That is what matters in the live service future of AC. If a blue filter that probably took a dev a couple days can get players to do a 2nd playthrough or just spend a few more hours replaying missions in blue it is a good return on investment, almost genius.
  • @NINJA4AMERICA
Looks like the closest thing to an AC game since Syndicate
  • Ubi Bordeaux seem to be genuine in their attempt, if this game make banks they deserve better resources and more time to make another game like this but way better.
  • @Longshanks1690
Nevermind Mirage, we’ve got an AC game in VR with everyone’s favourite characters Kassandra, Connor and Ezio(‘s stunt double since they couldn’t get the real thing) coming up!!! C’mon guys, how could they POSSIBLY screw that one up? 😅
