Puerto Vallarta is a great city to visit on a budget, so here are my top FREE things to do in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (that are actually worth it).

Things like walking the Malecon, stunning sunsets, free walking tours, hikes, hidden beaches, murals & more!

You could spend several days in this coastal city and only spend money on food and accommodation and have plenty of things to do during the day to keep you busy – without paying, or paying very little.

In fact, some of the best ways to enjoy the city are completely free.

I hope you enjoy this in depth travel guide to all the best free things to do for your next Mexico vacation.

Yeah, just got back from first time visit to PV. Pay attention to what time of year you go. When its hot, its HOT. And climbing up to the Mirador isn't for everyone. It is a long, LONG way up there. Solid steps the entire way. We were sweating profusely and exhausted and just gave up and went to the lighthouse instead. The view there was awesome too. It was just down the street from Our Lady of Guadalupe. And we work out and walk 6 days a week. So just be aware. We actually didn't enjoy old PV too much. It was a combination of things. The heat, the humidity, the dirt and grime. It hadn't rained in months when we were there. Everything outside had dirt and grime on it. You couldn't just sit down anywhere. And I don't know if it was trash day or if there was a garbage strike, but there was trash piled up everywhere. And not just household garbage either. Pallets, mattresses, boxes, etc. were piled up everywhere. That and when you were on the busy streets and the traffic stopped, the exhaust smell was overwhelming. The mrs. said she never needed to go back into old PV. I'm willing to give it another shot, but it will definitely be at a different time of year.

Great video. I'm taking my wife and adult children to PV early May. First time for any of us in Mexico. So excited to see this beautiful country and celebrate my daughters 21st birthday in the sun! So many awesome places to check out, one week wont even scratch the surface, but damnit, we'll try!!

  • When I lived in PV. The late 1950s. My dad started the first commercial laundry. Today PV is a movie prop for the tourists and that's it.
