  • The sirens screams at the end always get to me. Bc she was screaming from how violated she felt bc of his greed.
  • @abatage
what really blows my mind is that Jibaro is 100% hand animated and uses no motion capture ... it's absolutely incredible
  • @vinsanity40k
jibaro seems to have most in common with the episode "the witness" given the hectic camera work, realistic but creative expression, sparse dialogue, and the interaction between two main characters.
  • @Escuroz_8
Jibaro was so weird, beautifull and very creative at the same time. Wild!
  • Jibaro can be interpreted in different ways...But for me it became a metaphor for human greed, the maiden of the lake (literally in the shape of a heart) just wanted love, but travelers/soldiers/conquistadors were only interested in gold...A deaf knight robbed her and desecrated her and in return she cursed him, returning his hearing back, making it clear that he was no better than others and in the end it was not a cry of luring potential victims, but a cry of grief that she was stripped of her last precious thing, betrayed because at that moment she was as innocent and pure, but unfortunately everything will start anew (((
  • With the Cthulu monster, apparently that's actually Cthulu's brother Cthanid. The benevolent version with golden eyes that wants to help humanity, he's similar looking in every way except the eyes. Because humans can't comprehend it the way it intends to be, she thinks its some giant demon monster and she's seeing visions of things it will do. But the visions were it warning the girl what his brother would do if he's not released, hence why the beast in the visions has red eyes.

“Jibaro” is a Puerto Rican word. The woman is a Siren who is luring men to their deaths. She is protecting her gold and ultimately her people.
  • Jíbaro is the name of puertorrican country man. The men look like conquistadors, there was even a clergy man in the group. You can argue the woman represents the land to be conquered and how it got abused.
  • @jaives
the BTS of jibaro is nice. if i recall, they didn't do motion capture but used real dancers and the choreography for reference.
  • @Valfrekr
In the episode "In Vaulted Halls Entombed", the creature at the end is Cthulu. You can say that it really wasn't their decision to continue in the cave; but Cthulu was drawing them in.

Alberto Mielgo was the director and art director behind Jibaro, he and his studio was also behind "The Witness" from season 1, he also worked on "Into the Spider-Verse" and helped finding the style for it. So he is insane haha His and his studios main theme in almost all of their work is love. Jibaro is about toxic love and relationships. Jaby said "she just wanted company and didn't know how to connect with them", that's true, her way connecting hurt people. The smart choice of the main protagonist would have been to just leave, but as soon as he realized what he could gain, he took advantage of her desire to be loved, even if it hurt him. Both weren't good for each other and hurt each other (in this case phisiycally) for their own desires. I really like Jaby's interpretation of it being about men and nature, I guess it somewhat hits similar points. It's also speaking about the ways women and men hurt each other. The siren didn't attack the men with her strength, she attracted them with her beauty and played them (without really wanting it) and the men or just the man assaulted her with his overpowering physical strength. I also love the style, it sometimes looks so extremely real, every frame was drawn though. You can spot that if you concentrate on the foreground, it doesn't even try to look realistic. I was really impressed when I learned that they didn't use motion capture for the dances, tthey had a few dancers filmed and just used it as refrence. Jibaro is so impressive, I watch that episode every few weeks haha
  • She begins as a spirit of lust and vanity, luring conquerors to their doom. When he isn't affected, she shows honest affection and curiosity. But returning her affection costs him in the form of being cut by her sharp scales. Rather than treat her with the carefulness and respect needed to be with her, he is overcome with the very greed she initially thought he was above and takes from her. This action poisons the waters and dooms him to the same fate as the others. She is reborn as a spirit of grief and vengeance, and he has no defense.
  • Loved Jibaro! Interesting at first, but the second viewing the tears just started coming out at the end.
  • @bowlsem7
Steph gets so into the shows. Love her facial expressions.
  • At last 🙄🙄🙄🙄 i have been waiting for you to complete these series , jibaro is just visually so stunning , creating such amazing environments even though some may find it weird but it is just so artistic.
  • @echo.echo08
I am very impressed with the animation of Jibaro. Its message may have gone over my head but I am blown away by how realistic it is. I still cannot believe that it's fully animated, just WOW! The movement is so fluid, all the elements are so detailed, and though the world has fantastical elements, the physics still seems so real, like holy sh*t! The people who worked on it are just a remarkable team of screen magicians! Amazing! 25:31 about the siren's injurious kiss, if she is representative of nature then maybe she didn't mean to inflict pain? her lips are naturally made of scales so of course her kisses would hurt but that's just how her lips are, like nature is just is and does what it does and sometimes disasters happen but it's often just the natural course of nature.
  • Jaby was literally outta words while watching Jibaro 👀🐐💯😂
  • Honesty Jibaro is one of those stories that live rent-free in my mind for a very long time. The director said that this story was all about the signs that we see yet often ignore, and I feel like this is something that translates to most scenarios where the human condition interacts with human nature.

Hi Guys luv the channel.. i havnt watched a lot of these with u because i watched that show at random on Netflix and dont remember which episode is which Season and might of missed a few, glad u are still watching them, they are incredible..im not even a big animation fan at all but i luv these....i think the shorts feel like less of a commitment to watch then like a Disney Pixar or Dreamworks movie...The Jibaro woman dancing is just phenomenal..its hard to believe its even animated, blew me away...
