I get impatient for the 3-4 minutes it takes to gas up my car a few times a month.

calling hybrids ev's is disingenuous. If you're going to try to make a comment on market share and direction you shouldn't be padding the numbers to try to make your point. You're also leaving out the massive subsidies and the effects they have on the market.

So Hybrids are EVs? Nah. I smell lite propoganda...
  • @flurpoid
EV infrastructure fails to meet the needs of many consumers currently. You essentially need private parking for it to be as convenient as a ICE car, finding and waiting around public chargers is asinine. I think the novelty of them has worn off for many consumers as the flaws become apparent. I want EVs to work, but not if they're some sort of forced compromise.

I'm retired on disability, and live in an apartment...I don't have the patience or stamina for charging stations, and since I can only afford used vehicles, I don't trust the reliability and repair costs of all - electric vehicles...

If you want to include PHEV into the "ev" camp, yes sales are up. BUT, if you include them into the ICE camp, ICE is way up and ev's are getting hammered. Be truthful about the reporting. PHEV do not fall into either camp and if a side is required, gas for the electric range is what, 50/60 kilometres?

I’m over here, making my gas car faster in my garage but running to the parts store in my even quicker EV. I’m also ignoring politics, stigmas, sales, and arguments about the environment. I’m not attached to any of these cars or how they are propelled. I’m focusing on the freedom and enjoyment of driving.

Let's just say that Ev ship has already sailed, in MotorWeek knows it's true turn the light of all this propaganda about how good the sales are.
  • @scottmacewen4608
Consumer interest / early adopters of +$100,000 is shrinking… however, the company that cracks the $30,000 barrier (without incentives) wins.
  • @Nyu0005
Dont you think they shouldnt count PHEV as EV sales?
  • @johnandersonjjr
It was the introduction of the electric starter that caused the internal combustion engine to take over from the even more not ready for prime time (than it is now)EV back then.Motor week really showing it’s PBS roots in this episode.
  • @charlieb308
I went to a Ford dealer to look at F150 EV, it was 90 grand, the model for $39,995 was never available. Prices are insane for EVs
  • @MrHemikid426
The only reason their selling at all is we the taxpayers are paying people to buy them. Once the incentives are gone, the tiny growth will end.
  • @sarabeth8050
My local Hyundai dealer is discounting Ionic 5 and Ionic 6 cars from $10,000 to $15,000. By contrast, their gasoline cars are in high demand, especially hybrids and PHEVs. It's a similar story at other nearby dealers that sell EVs. The local Toyota dealer has very few cars in stock (mostly pickup trucks) and every car still sells above MSRP.
  • @jessh2147
How do you know EV sales are down? When they start including PHEV sales numbers in "EV Sales" to make the numbers look more palatable. At this rate, normal ICE car sales will be included since those have a 12v battery therefore EV as well XD.
  • @diyi75
Come on motorweek I've watched your show for decades. You just included plug-in hybrids and fully electric vehicles in the same metric. That is very disingenuous.
  • @Mr-Clark
I checked for insurance on one and it costs 3X than my current gas car. No thanks.
