► In every Pokemon game, somewhere early in the storyline a character always tries to teach you one of the most basic things you'll need for your journey - how to catch a Pokemon. Usually these battles always go the same way - the trainer walks in the grass, encounters a Pokemon, weakens it with their own, and captures it. But what if the catching tutorial went wrong? What if the person teaching you how to catch a Pokemon couldn't even catch one themself? Today, we'll be taking a look at Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl and Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire and seeing the silliness that ensues when the catching tutorial goes wrong in Pokemon!

that wally tutorial when i was playing he knocked it out the first time i played the game, and since it was my first pokemon game that i was playing thats how i thought you caught pokemon by absolutely merking them

Fun fact. I was doing a randomised run of emerald. Catching tutorial, wally had a zigzagoon vs a machamp. Zigzagoon fainted and wally tried to send out ‘bad egg’ and then the game crashed

I think it stopped working starting in gen 5 because the capture tutorial since then are just cut scenes, whereas earlier generations it's an actual battle that you don't control. Another interesting thing I found is that in gen 3 or 4 during the capture tutorial, the first Pokémon in your party is temporarily replaced with the Pokémon the person is using (Eg. Wally's Zigzagoon, Lyra's marill, etc)
