Let's Take A Walk...

In recent years, I've become a big fan of walking, both for physical exercise and mental health. And recently I came into possession of a new toy (a camera - the DJI Osmo Pocket 3) and thought I'd bring you along on one of my walks, while extolling the benefits of walking.

My honest opinion - developing a daily walking habit can change your life.

I literally paused to video because i thought the ice cream truck was coming down my road. I'm 36 years old.

Yes! But I like when you talk along with it 🙂
  • I’m a bed bound terminally ill 28 year old. I would KILL to go on a nice walk at our local park. Or even a roll in my wheelchair. But I can’t. I definitely recommend going on as many as you can, you never know when you won’t be able to anymore.

I walk an hour a day, sometimes more if the weather is awesome. I dont walk as much in the winter, but yeah it has done wonders for my anxiety and heart rhythm. I also lost close to 60 pounds last year...Im sold on the benefits of a good daily walk.
  • Great idea Joe. Please make more walking videos. But if you stop by a food truck, we're gonna need you to share. :)

Yes to the full walk around White Rock Lake! This brought back so many great memories like when I met my wife at the White Rock Yacht Club where I stored my boat and you started your video. Been in Florida for the last 20 years but use to either walk or ride my bike around the lake when I lived in Lakewood almost every day. Thanks for the memory boost.

Love this video, Joe (talking or no talking). You’ve made me want to get back into my own walking routine.

Thank you kindly for the shout out Joe! I have forever enjoyed the great outdoors, I mainly recorded walks so I could look back at them in years to come and I thought that maybe some other people may appreciate my walks too. I guess my reasons for creating non talking videos are 1 I have always felt the places I film can more than speak for them selves and just don't need any input from me. I can always overlay text or put information in the video description if needed. And 2 well.. I just don't like the sound of my own voice😅 When I first got started on making videos I did attempt some talking on one of my walks. After watching it back I quickly deleted it and vowed never again!

You talking about going on a walk makes me want to go on a walk much more than my parents saying “you need to go outside!”
  • This is just the right video for me right now. I have a few days off, been sick, and bored. No schedules, no plans. And I think taking a walk is a good remedy for boredom and will help me fill up my head with new ideas. It's true, I never felt worse after a walk than before. And it happens that I also watched a few walking videos and I found them fascinating, they let me get a good impression of places that are really far away and that I will most likely never visit. Just the extreme contrast to where I live, does something to my mind. And I love that they're uncut. I'm the kind of person who often pauses videos to look at details, I hate it when a video with a lot of interesting visuals of a place is cut too fast, it's not that I like pausing videos, I just prefer the cuts to be slower. So walking videos with long cuts is also kind of like Google Streetview, you can pause at any moment and look at details. They both have a similar appeal. I've also used Streetview a few times, to walk around far away neighborhoods out of curiosity.

I know this really isn't the vibe you're going for right now, but it could be cool to make a video about about our terrible and unsafe walking infrastructure in our car-centric country, "walking deserts" that exist in suburban spaces. Love your channel!

I used to ride my bike from Rowlett 2 that trail and do a 50 mile loop in the 80s.
  • @missbizzylizzy
Wow, I love this style of video. It’s so relaxing and nice just listening to you chat. I really enjoy your other channel but sometimes the videos make my brain hurt 😂😂😂 I will continue to watch both channels but would love to see more videos like this. Oh, also loved hearing about Mr Sweatpants with the baseball bat 😂
  • @coden1ke
It doesn't matter if it's this or the main channel. I often find myself watching these videos thinking, 'man, this video deserves a thumbs up', only to realize that I have already thumbed up the video. Thanks for all the content, double thumbs up.

I wouldn't mind if this is a Only TMI thing, or even if you made a third channel exclusively about walking, like "Joe Scott - Walking channel/videos. Like I want to say, these are your channels; you do you. We're mainly here following your own process end journey and watching great content. We only ask for you not to do a too big of a divergence, which is why I think this is a perfect secondary channel experiment. Also, your commentary here is great, almost asmr in it self. I've thought about wanting to do these 'break walks' too when I get to join a course/class in a few weeks. Work smarter, not harder as they say
  • @GeniaP
Thought 1: The video finishes exactly when the path gets interesting 😆 Thought 2: I have no idea what Dallas or Texas looks like, so would like to see more of it. But with Joe's speaking his thoughts out loud please 😊 Thought 3: Gosh, I miss walking! Knee injury for two months already, at least 3 more months without beeing able to walk ahead. Everyone who is able to walk, please do it, it's such a blessing!

My favorite walk is on Instagram. On weekends, Simon Pegg walks his dogs through a neighbor's wood and he shares his thoughts on life, work, movies, etc. Always a treat when I catch an upload

At 70 I take great joy when I'm able to ride my ebike!! I take a Bluetooth and blast the blues......yeah!! Life is good!!

My grandparents used to live right off of White Rock Lake. Every once in a while we would walk over and get a couple of paddle boats to go out on the lake and other times we would go across the street to the little park and catch fireflies. That was a few decades ago. I miss them. Edit: Lol. I just remembered one time when we were little my brother and I got into a big fire ant bed by the water's edge and had fire ants ALL over us. We had to walk back to their house in our under wear. Luckily they lived really close. That's a memory I could have lived without. Enjoy my barely remembered pain and embarrassment people. Lol

You’re a good dude. Glad you are having success. Would love to see the lake again in full summer. Ciao.
