Episode 85

Cobra Triangle is one of the most challenging games on the NES, but what would you expect from the people that brought us games like IronSword, Snake Rattle 'n' Roll, and Battletoads?

Rare, the UK based developer that would go on to make huge hits like Donkey Kong Country and GoldenEye 007, created this quirky vehicle combat game back in the late 1980's. They used the same game engine from their popular RC Pro AM game, but Cobra Triangle would feature a lot more than just racing! Each Stage presents a new objective. Sometimes you just need to reach the finish line, but other times you might have to defuse mines, or rescue people from aliens - it's wild!

At the end of it all is one of the most difficult final bosses in video game history - the shark! The challenges leading up to this dreadful monster are tough, but actually finishing this game has seemed impossible... until now!

So how did this game get made? In this week's episode we'll find out, and then we'll dive deep into the gameplay where we'll learn:

* An EASY way to get fully powered up early so you'll be ready for the challenges ahead!

* How to beat EVERY STAGE, regardless of which path you take!

* The SECRET to guarding the people effortlessly!

* Where to find hidden EXTRA LIVES!

* TRICKS for gaining TONS OF EXTRA POINTS!

* How to AVOID the DEADLY second ice river!

* SPECIAL TECHNIQUES for DISPOSING MINES!

* The SECRET to JUMPING THE WATERFALL!

* The best way to FRY EVERY BOSS, even THE GIANT SHARK... AND MORE!

Thanks for watching!

4:31 new puppy sighted! I totally had to rewind that adorable part a few times.
  • @DemureDave
Kylo is introducing the next generation to the games of our childhood? Nice!
  • "Whoa, that was a close one. The boat barely made the jump over that bottomless pit!" "Isn't your boat also a helicopter?"
  • @hannes8835
Hey. Who is the little guy next to Kylo? I was a little bit confused by the second dog on the thumbnail, but now it makes sense.
  • @xHarpua
Dude you should start a second series on this channel that’s just video game history/documentaries. The opening story has quickly become my favorite part of your videos.
  • @basicfacekick
That had to be a Flight 19 reference in the ending there, so definitely a Bermuda Triangle tie-in. Albeit a very loose one.

I still have this boxed! Never did a game make me want to break my controller so much! Loved it👌
  • Great video bud. Hoping Kylo is able to wrap up the Ninja Gaiden trilogy before passing the torch

I beat this game only one time and my 14 year old self thought I'd won an NBA title the way I was screaming. That game is that difficult yet maddeningly addictive.

Saturday morning video games you can beat is finally here. Reminds me being a kid again watching Saturday morning cartoons! Another great episode by, UCBV!

This game was legit one of the most frustrating but fun games I played as a kid. Never could beat it

I love how you can see some recycled assets and ideas that ended up in other Rare games. The 1-Up and the finish line are the same as Battletoads and there's some similarities to the vehicle stages. A few little things like that. I know it's actually just to save time and money but it feels like little Easter eggs for the fans.
  • My uncle was great at this, better than me so I'd watch him play and he beat it several times. Always great games on this channel, I can't wait for either dragon warrior 4 or maybe bards tale, but DW4 is an all time favorite
  • @alkristopher
I gave up on this game awhile back, but now I feel I can manage it. If Kylo would like to play a dog-friendly game, Wacky Races and Conquest of the Crystal Palace feature them prominently.
  • @lessthankate
Thank you for getting the dog someone to help him with the two player games.
  • @veridiux
Man, I just want to thank you so much. I'm the guy that messaged you and requested this video. Again, thanks a ton and I love being part of the community.
  • Glad to hear a shoutout to the creator of the Battletoads pause music, truly one of the heroes of my childhood. It never got old, and kept my stress level down as I perused my Nintendo Power magazine to see stage maps when I was getting stuck.
  • Hey dude. I saw the pup. It won't be easy to say goodbye to a friend... especially a doggo like yours. I know a tired friend when I see one. I've been watching your vids for sometime now. You're amazing and give that old pup some love for me please. Such a sweet heart. Keep these going. You got a community behind you.

This is one of those rare moments I don’t need your help. I was addicted to this game for a full summer in the early 90s. Regardless, amazing video as always! 🍻
