Watching Odysseus let lose 20-10 years of pent up anger on the men who both wanted to marry his wife and murder his son is so satisfying

I love how this animatic implies that Ody uses only melee weapons but the suitors can never notice him and think that they are being shot down by an archer

I absolutely LOVE the line of “you don’t think I know my own palace?! I built!” A good part because, the more you think into the suitor’s line of “we know these halls, the odds can be tilted”, the more fucking insulting it is. This is the palace of Ithaca’s royal family, where they absolutely abused the hell out of guest rights and hospitality and were doing a fair try at bankrupting the kingdom. Where the only reason they know these halls were so well was because they figuratively and were literally trying to force themselves on their family. They walked around like they owned the place on essentially ODYSSEUS’S dime while planning to murder his son, gang rape his wife, and steal his throne. How fucking there they. And on top of that, there’s a huge group of them versus ONE OF HIM. And he’s pretty fucking old at this point. They brag and saunter around and scheme, and then panic and talk about needing to tilt the fucking odds. And they thought THEY COULD USURP HIM??? Athena in this musical is focused on protecting Telemachus at this point. And I love how her genius idea is “…we can still set Odysseus on them. That’ll take care of the problem fairly quickly.” Ironically, it took the course of the Odyssey for Odysseus to fully mature/evolve into Athena’s vision of what a Warrior of the Mind is supposed to be.
  • Odysseus coming out on that “I BUILT IT” was stunning. Stellar work!

I've seen so many depictions of "You don't think I know my own palace?! I built it!" My favorite will always be those of absolute DISGUST and ANGER on his face when he says it. The jeering is cool. But when he's angry? You can just imagine its because all this time of them wasting his food and wine and insulting his home and family, they were under the impression that Odysseus was like them; a nobleman that inherited a crown. He was a Soldier that earned a throne.

Oh my god they NEED to put Odysseus in a cloak for this scene, if it ever makes it to a stage

the fact that we get this from the suitors' perspective is so so chilling- when I saw the og tiktok clip my first thought was "damn this is a fucking slasher horror" and the second was "with Odysseus as the monster" ... :)

"I see your palace covered in red Faces of men who had long believed you're dead I see your wife with a man who is haunting A man with a trail of bodies"- No Longer you
  • @LizardsLore
“You don’t think I know my own palace? I BUILT IT”… the fact that Odysseus literally was building Ithaca, a land nobody wanted from the ground up and those dingleberries thought they could just swoop in and taken it.

Wow I never interpreted “he’s aiming for the torches” as in they’re making them easy targets I thought it meant he’s shooting the lights so it goes dark but it makes much more sense the other way
  • @TheAlxSystem
"you dont think i know my own palace? I BUILT IT" LOVE THAT LINE SO MUCH
  • the thing to be feared most in life, is a patient, intelligent man, when they lose their temper.

0:10 Reusing the “man of the house” chorus for such an ENTIRELY different context is so good, by far my favorite part of the song so far

Ody just running around in the darkness taking the suitors out is so beautiful. and his red eyes before he kills those two, chef's kiss
