I don't know what I think of Synfig. Some of the reel looks really great, some really stiff and sterile, so it's clearly a matter of how you use it. I tried it a while and opted to use "another open source animation program" To each his/her own.

Have to say i underestimated what i could achieve with this software before watching this video. If only animation wasn't so darn time-consuming it would be higher in my list of hobbies...
-
Love that piano. And the short at the end. lol.
-
Synfig blew my mind away because it was so darn confusing!
-
@pxegeek does that also pertain to FBF animation? I see many many tweens through synfig, but i don't see much FBF work. is this because the program is not very supportive of FBF work, or is it mor the style of the animators themselves?
-
Awesome! Especially that it's open source!
-
wow... synfig can do all of that... i'm amazed
-
Good work! Now for the open film created with Synfig!
-
This video was made using Synfig alone?
-
@pxegeek Aw man. Any reason as to WHY they wont/cant get that working?=\ Also, 1 last dumb question: I can use hand drawn frames right? As in "scanned off paper". Im not a real big vector/tween guy. And would love it if I can do a few things the old fashioned way!
-
nice vid. whats the track with the piano called? I really like it
-
I want to learn to do all that. It'll take years of practice, but I know I can pull it off eventually!
-
yes we come and see and never come back again

Hi! I wanted to know how Synfig compares to Flash, animationwise. Are the controls similar? Does it use the symbol system? How how do the tweening features compare? I just really want to know because I'm using Flash CS5.5 and want to know how I'd have to adjust if I switched to synfig. I just used up a lot of money to get a new computer and Adobe's CC subscription makes me financially nervous.

Is Synfig anything like After Effects? I'm thinking of switching to Ubuntu but my last concern is that Photoshop and After Effects don't run on Linux systems. Any reply is appreciated. :)

The one i d-loaded i just couldent get a handle on. Couldent find a good tutorial online for it either. Looks like ill have to stick with Windows, but i was looking forward to find somthing that would help with motion transitioning. :(

@pxegeek is it freeware?
-
Can you do frame by frame animation on this?
-
Hi, do you know if Synfig would be a good choice to make your own anime? (japanse animtaion) thank you!

@Ausut blender is a better after effect replacement, it hase a video editor and a node compositor with keyframeable attributes and such. It's incredibly powerful.
