Kasparov's bishops each get a participation trophy

There's not many things more satisfying than a chess position that is materially equal and also 100% dead lost for the opposing side.

Holy crap Ivanchuk literally disabled all of Kasparovs pieces and pushed them back behind. Ive never seen a game like this..amazing
  • @potpolima
He won a tournament where 3 world champions participated. Thats crazy
  • The dog on the sofa has a rating of about 1400. He looks like he's sleeping but he's actually taking notes & following blind-folded.
  • @adarsh5870
Kasparov's King was protecting them all ( bishops, rook, queen ) everyone
  • “I fear no man. But that thing-“ looks at the chess position. “It scares me.”
  • This is without a doubt the best chess commentary on the Internet.
  • @Nimaheshmati
I'm sure Kasparov was thinking how the fuck did I get myself in this position
  • @marcjohn9404
He completely isolated his pieces and created a prison around them. I've never seen a game like this - absolutely dominant performance here.
  • This is the game I come back to the most. It is just beautiful how Ivanchuk literally dismantles Kasparov and was so confident in his ability that he was willing to sacrifice two knights knowing he'd imprison the bishops later. I genuinely think Linares 1991 is the most impressive chest performance in history. Ivanchuk DUSTED the field and this was probably the strongest field to ever play in a tournament.

Holy crap I had heard he was a genius but wow that game is something else! And against the best..
  • @cekaem81
I think I saw this video over a dozen times now but I still come back here to watch it again from time to time. This game is Ivanchuk's masterpiece.
  • @Dervarengang
"This is the worst bishop pair in the history of chess."
  • @gfweis
Ivanchuk seems to give Kasparov the advantage just to toy with him...it's almost a humiliation. This is truly one of the most amazing games you have presented.
  • @RtB68
I’ve never seen a game where Kasparov was so soundly punched around the board like a Patzer. I wonder at what point he thought to himself “holy shit, I’ve got nothing.”

"very weird... constellation" For someone speaking english as a second language, he often uses it so effectively to convey ideas in novel ways
