Despite how much the game wants you to hate gortash, if you read his journal, it seemed like he was going make you an actual ally and hold up his end of the deal to dominate the sword coast. I don't know what he was trying to do here in his last moments here.

1:25 so it’s interesting because if you choose the insight option here, your character will preemptively realize that he’s testing you and doesn’t want you to just hand him the stones. This game is incredible, the variety of the different dialogue options is just outstanding.

I love how Gortash genuinely wants to work with you. The game sets you up to distrust him but it makes perfect sense for him to ally with you. Orin is well, Orin, and Ketheric is nothing without his immortality. It makes perfect sense for him to want to ally himself with someone who has proven themselves capable. I know for D Urge Gortash already knew you, but for Tav he knows he can’t beat you and your party. Of course, he’s also for his bluster, incredibly short sighted thinking he can control an Elder Brain, and his plan is so royally stupid that it gets Jergal, the Gith and Raphael involved but hey.
  • If you play as Durge it’s hinted that you and Gortash were in a somewhat relationship before Orin overthrew you. I think he does genuinely, to some extent, care about your character. If you read his mind it’s revealed that he does actually want to rule beside you.
  • The mouse smiled brightly: it outfoxed the cat! Then down came the claw, and that, love, was that. You know shit is fucked when a Devil is trying to warn you about the ending man... LMAO

Well that was a pathetic way for Gortash to die… he doesnt say anything, he standa there, does nothing, sees shit is going down, tries to Gollum snatch the stones, fails, and dies miserably… I was hoping that he would do SOMETHING useful for us atleast, rather than just being a brief cutscene cameo. Perhaps actually helping with the idk. Gortash has been a mixed bag for me. On one hand, i love Lawful Evil and he clearly has some brain. His plot was clever and fittingly tyranical. But in the end it seems he was always doomed to fail and his lofty ambitions were pointless. I wish he would have done something atleast. Edit: I think they should have done, is that he would help you with the final battles alongside his few remaining Cult of Bane perhaps. Maybe even a Steelwatcher if the factory is still up. After the final battle, maybe than he could either die, or you can betray him or actually have the alliance ending.

For the chosen of bane with the chosen of bhaal I was expecting more than just shouting at the brain
  • I think we can all agree that Larian should someday add content to the story that allows you to join the Chosen in facing the Elder Brain and that no matter what, it is revealed that it's actually playing them all and pretending to be controlled. Could still add ways they valiantly die in battle against the brain with you. Definitely a lot of Durge potential there
  • that’s weird, this clip is missing the part where Gortash says “When did the brain get so huge?” in my playthrough it happened during that awkward long closeup on his face right after the brain rises outta the water
  • @wraithryder
wish there was some way to have your evil ending by keeping gortash, orin or ketheric alive till the end
  • @dorukhanozen2580
Man I had this whole deception monk run with mindflayer powers to become absolute rule with Gortash+Minthara. Stupid brain killed my Jason Isaac man now we are once again doing the elder brain boss fight with most likely no epilogue to become absolute real fun.
  • @leyrua
I have to say, I like how sudden Gortash's death is. He's just... snuffed out like a candle. No torment, just... it has no further use for him.
  • @teleman07
Gortash alliance should have had an ending. May be also including something like replacing Kheteric as Myrkul's chosen.
  • @mizu7662
I am honestly pretty disappointed with how things go if you agree to ally with Gortash. I don't mind him dying in of itself, but it would have been nice if he got a bit of dignity instead of dying like a chump. Also would have been nice if he gave your rolls to control the Netherbrain a buff by working together with you instead of just kind of sitting there like a lump.
  • @madmaxxing1006
Oh man, this saves me some time from trying to ally with him. In my first run I thought the ceremony would be a bigger event and did every other quest in the city. By the time I arrived, I was already maxed out with only Gortash and Orin left to do. Gortash died by his own traps when I was scouting with my ghouls 😂😂
  • @tezz2698
Man, this was such a huge missed opportunity. It would have been amazing if we had the opportunity to become allies with one of the main antagonists and rule with him.
  • @zefurin7300
Gortash conclusion is very disappointing (compared to Ketheric or Orin last moments). I was expecting something so much surprising for him, especially if you do an alliance with Raphael added to Emperor sheme... I would have LOVE to have those 3 characters reunited (in the astral prism) for a mexican standhoff with their plan/scheme around Orpheir... and you character has to deal with persuasions, lie and intimidations to put one against another one... etc. For exemple Raphael gain the soul of Gortash instead of yours... or Gortash becoming a mindflayer... or Gortash succeeding to outplan your contract with the Devil thanks to a subparagraph in knows... It would have been SO FUNNY to get this situation and you dealing with all those chessmasters.
  • @negativedt
all the paths you can go with Gortash are pretty underwhelming. I just straight up went for him and the fight was really boring compared to Kethric's fight. I was expecting Bane to come out after Gortash went down but it just ended with him being defeated.
  • @GloriousGe0rge
Damn she used Power Word Kill on him. I now honestly feel better about him not having a second stage boss battle or a bigger form like the other two bosses did, turns out he wasn't as in touch with Bane as the others were. Bane is probably giving all his real power to Manshoon.
  • @Queltamas
Nah I just murdered him, nobody hurts Karlach and gets away with it.
