So I guess it's finally time to review Terminator Dark Fate. Is it the worst of the series, or a bold new beginning for a tired franchise? Let's find out.

Old movies rely on good writing. New movies rely on good old movies.

Terminator, Predator, Aliens, Star Wars, Ghostbusters....remember the fallen.

Terminator: Woke Fate: "I'll be back." Terminator fans: "We won't."

Terminator: Metal. Terminator 2: Liquid Metal. Terminator Dark Fate: Gender fluid.

When they were marketing this the director smugly announced that this movie would “terrify” men instantly alienating a large portion of their audience. Genius.

I STILL get chills during T2, when Sarah gets her first glimpse of what she thinks is the original terminator. Her response is so perfectly done- all that terror, frustration, and exhaustion in one sound and 2 seconds of action.

"There's gonna be spoilers." Can't spoil what's already rotten.

When Schwarzenegger said “I’ll be back” I felt excited and looked forward to him coming back. When Linda Hamilton said “I’ll be back”, I wanted to reply by saying “take your time” or “it’s okay I got this, you don’t need to”
  • The most ridiculous part of this movies is how Dani became the leader of the resistance in the future not because she shows latent talent in the present or has good leadership skills. But because she told a really motivating speech to some scavengers.

Sarah Connor never had to say, "I'm gonna stand and fight!" as an indicator of her character arc. Didn't have to.
  • The worst part was when Sarah downplayed her own role to referring to herself as just a womb to some man who saves humanity. They seem to forget what Kyle said in terminator: it was a chance to meet the legend, Sarah Connor. Taught her son to fight, organize. To prepare him when he was just a kid. When you went in hiding before the war. James Cameron must be suffering from alzeimers since he allowed this continuity error on screen. Sarah wasn't just some incubator of a messiah. She was the one that made John into a warrior with her guidance.

God I loved Vasquez in Aliens: "Hey Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man?" "No, have you?" And her delivery was just right on the money. A great character and a great performance from Jenette Goldstein.
  • "female dick weaving to establish who's the stronger strong female character" - This one had me dead 😂

Edit: Just met Robert Patrick at Indiana Comic Con, showed him this comment, and he confirmed everything, adding he caught up to the dirt bike on the first take and they subsequently had to increase its speed from 13 to 15 mph. He appreciated the comments and replies and autographed my T-1000 photo with “Call to John.” I am giddy. Apparently, Robert Patrick independently trained for his role as the T-1000 to not show fatigue while running. I read somewhere he did extensive cardio on his own to build up his stamina so his character's chase scenes would look as effortless as possible. I often fall victim to looking upon the past with rose-tinted glasses, but goddammit, who does that for a role anymore?

I'd truly be unable to imagine a terminator more dangerous than T1000. He was a legitimately scary, and had an amazing way about with the way he interacts with people not on his kill list. He shown charisma in talking to bystanders, but the second he spots the target, he just tears after them.
