Why do I do this to myself? I've seen Dark Phoenix and now I have to rant about it. Join me as I review the final X-Men movie.

Making movies out of comics should be easier. The story is already written and they even have pictures to help the bad screenwriters not get confused.

Dark phoenix was so strong she single handedly destroyed the franchise
  • I swear, Michael Fassbender has the power to make any role he's in interesting, no matter how shitty or poorly-scripted the movie in question could be.

How do you fail to adapt a comic? It's already bloody storyboarded for you.

Mystique: "I can't remember the last time you sacrificed something..." She says to the man in a wheelchair. She says to the man who took a bullet to save his best friend. She says to the man who stood up to Apocalypse, ALONE... She says to the man who watched his best friend kill somebody with a coin, because he was unwilling to kill his friend to stop him... And on and on....
  • The thing is, in the comics, the dark phoenix storyline was built up for YEARS. Jean was shown to always struggle with her powers and was often in training with Xavier. He even foreshadowed her evil turn years prior to the saga. Jean was also a beloved character that readers grew up with and seeing her finally give in to evil was gut wrenching and sad. You can't do this saga in one movie since it has too much stuff to build up from. It needs to be a three movie build up, at LEAST. And its sad cause the Phoenix Saga is one of the best x men storylines and seeing it botched not once, but twice is just horrific

If the writers just read the comics these movies wouldn't flop so damn hard.

I love how he calls her sansa stark the whole time 😂

Jackman, Mcavoy, Fassbender, Patrick Stewart, Ian were extremely well cast. Evan Peters was also super well cast. I can’t see those characters being played by anyone else they’re goated

So Mystique dies in a prequel to a movie where she's alive and well? Continuity: "Nah, it'll be fine."
  • Another problem was, no one wanted a dark phoenix movie. When Jean Grey did her thing during the climax of apocalypse you see the dark phoenix symbol for a second and I heard the entire cinema groan.

I honestly hated how they decided Mistique needed to be developed from full-on villain to a dedicated member of the X-Men She was never in the X-Men with good intentions And it's appalling how first class is supposed to take place before X1, and we're supposed to just accept the events they shat out

"...but when she goes Dark Phoenix mode she just reminds me of Mark Zuckerberg trying to pretend he's a human..." I love you.

X-Men 3: The Last Stand Magneto: I prefer the real conclusion of the X-Men series. X-Men: Dark Phoenix Magneto: I said the REAL conclusion of the X-Men series. Logan Magneto: Perfection.
  • I’ll give this film one compliment: it finally put the nail the coffin to end our suffering
