How To Make Character TURNAROUNDS and Sheets!

Published 2019-12-31
UPDATE: Dang, we've come a long way since this video! Biko, the main character, is available to give you healing as a plush, only until 11/6/22! Grab it to directly support the development of my animated series Stormfellers! www.makeship.com/products/biko-plush

Stay tuned for a fun year-end wrap up towards the end!

Whether you’re creating characters that only you will use for personal work, or especially if you’re creating a character that will be handed off to someone else, it’s usually not enough to create a single drawing or key pose and be on your way. Creating turnarounds or character sheets is a great way to establish things about your character thoroughly, and figure out certain ambiguous things about them before you put them into use. Even so, you may have struggled in the past with turning a character around, let’s help you out with that and figure out a cool way to present the fuller picture of our characters.

  • Turnaround Every now and then I get a little bit lonely and you're never coming 'round

Literally everyone is saying how you posted this exactly when they needed this... Honestly, I'm one of them. I've been having trouble drawing orthographs, and--well, here we are.

Maybe if Biko was animated, then his hat could leave an impression for a second or two, but in a comic or illustration, his head would be stuck like that for however long you stare at it... Anyway, Happy New Year!
